  1. Hi MathMagic is much like MathType but with some more features. There's a Lite and Pro version. There is also on version especially for Indesign. Quote from homepage It would be great if Affinity would get in touch with the MathMagic people to do the same port for APub. http://www.mathmagic.com/index.html I'm not affialiated in any way with mathmagic. I just thought it would be a great extension to APub for science people ;-)
  2. Hello I like Affinity Publisher! As it's beta it's still not fully bug free. So here are my findings… I copied Arabian text from internet inside a text box, which didn't show the letters only wrong Japanese / Chinese symbols or empty boxes. Though Apple Pages showed the text correctly. If I copy / paste the Arabian text from Pages to Affinity Publisher the Arabian sentence showed correctly but the different letters did overlap. So I exported the sentence from Pages as TIFF images which I imported in Affinity Publisher. I wanted to rotate the Arabian phrase with CMD J which worked correctly on screen, but printing did messing up everything. See screenshot and scanned printed card If I save the page as PDF file printing wasn't right either. The Arabian text images just don't print as seen on screen. (see scanner printed card, printed directly from Affinity Publisher) So I exported the page as TIFF. Imported it into pages and printing was fine. So there is either a problem converting to PDF or doing a printer file send to the printer. I know one shouldn't leave pictures outside the page size, but I thought I will print on a postcard the rest won't show up. Any ideas? thx
  3. Thx for the explanation and clarifying my ignorence on this topic. For me blends and power duplications were the same. BTW the screen I made was done with a retro-DTP app from the late 80s. I played with the duplicate function in Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher (on Mac CMD-J) . By placing the colored rectangle. I press CMD-J to duplicate it. Move it around with the mouse, scale and rotate it. Consecutive CMD-J commands does replicate, scale and rotate the rectangle. The same worked with the star shaped object. It works but it's another aproach. I was used to a menu.
  4. Is it possible, either in APub or ADesigner to have 2 objects selected and transformed (morphed) into another object? Or rotate, scale etc. I don't have Indesign so I don't know if the initial post is about this idea. Even if APub can't do it perhaps ADesigner can, but I haven't found it yet. What I mean can be seen in this screenshot below.
  5. I use the third party App QR Factory (for Mac) if I need QR Codes and export (copy / paste) them to Affinity Publisher. I don't know if INDesign can do this from itself. But if Affinity Publisher for Mac gets Apple Script support working with third party QR code apps should be no problem.
  6. Hello I'm new to Apub. Till now I like the app, will replace my Apple Pages projects and revive some older projects I saved as PDF in an older DTP that doesn't work anymore on my Mac. I want to import a PSD file to create a photobook. PSD file available here: https://www.saal-digital.de/service/profibereich/#c77363 If I drag the PSD file onto the APub icon it imports the PSD file. But I want it to be imported as masterpage. Is there any possibilty to convert or import it directly as a masterpage? Drag and drop doesn't work. Yes I can check the PSD page settings and made up manually a new masterpage, but then the link above makes no sense :-)
  7. I'm new to the Affinity products. And only played some hours with APUB. When I saw the title and the first video of this thread, I thought "APub can't do this? Even "PageStream" in the late 80s was capable of doing this! Any picture could be put into any shape and transparency. Which itself could be converted to a text box again with the picture in the shaped background" Then I remembered in PageStream was a shortcut / menu to convert any shape into picture and / or text box. (Wasn't possible with Pagemaker nor Xpress at that time! The Print bureau where impressed by the features and speed of the app.) So I checked the menus in APub and found and tried the "Convert picture to frame". It works easily. Yes I see myself as an experienced amateur with DTP, though I use it everyday for my work. Already now APub has more features I need for my purposes. I used and learned PageStream in 80/90s and used it until 2005. Later I used MS Publisher, Scribus and till now Pages on my Mac, because Pagestream isn't developed anymore, but had features Xpress and ID only got decades later or never like the datatypes concept: datatypes were used by the OS and made any fileformat available to any application. No need to reprogramm import or export filters. Just install the right Datatype and all apps could use it. As for APub I like the speed of APub. As a beta version it is rather stable. I'm sure we will see more professional features for many pages documents. Be patient.
  8. Will Affinity Publisher support MathType mathematical symbols and equations? Import / export directly from within AP not via EPS import?
  9. Hello Will Affinity Publisher support MathType mathematical symbols and equations? Thx.
  10. Will there be a possibility to import Apple Pages files? Both old an new iteration of Pages? If not PDF import and being able to edit these would be great.
  11. Hi will there be another preview (longer or more features shown) before beta release of AP? Thx.
  12. I don't use Amiga computers anymore. The last Amiga Computer I owned was years ago. So I don't need an Amiga version of Affinity Publisher. :-) My point is using features that were great long time ago and not available anymore
  13. Now QurkXpress and ID have these features. But in the 90s they were way behind Pagestream
  14. Hello I'm new here at the forum, but I'm happy to see Affinity Publisher coming along. At the moment Pages on Mac is enough for my DTP usage, but the latest iOS like Pages version is missing too many features. Before I used PageStream on my Amiga computers. Had many great features and very usefull ones not found in any Pro DTP app. I don't know if PageStream is still being developped but I would like to see Affinity Publisher lending many ideas from Pagestream. Like moving, resizing objects of any kind by an autorecording script function. Or importing / exporting any format be it GFX or documents formats (mainly due to Amiga's Datatypes: le the OS handle any data and the apps can do it too). Another great feature was unlimited zoom, calculations inside boxes like 22 mm + 3 cm, just to resize, place or put an object to the right direction. Or making any object a textbox, any size any form or any color attributes. Or even strange forms in photographs a textbox. Plus putting any mathc of pages DIN A4, doublesided with DIN anysize mixed anyway with different page numbering formats. True export to pro printing services And Pagestream was fast on an Amiga. Really fast. I made several publications for organizations and everytime the guy at the printing bureaus were impressed by the capabilities of Pagestream. They often told wow even InDesign or QuarkXpress can't do that . http://www.pagestream.org
