Hi, Ive faced recently some problems that occured quite often when a print house calls me with the remarks and I am off my home desktop&NAS, the amendments are to be made quickly and I cant EDIT Indd document (+200 MB) off my workplace. Is/would it be possible to work remotely on such /APub/ document? Or maybe Affinity cloud option? Assume all the images have been linked and I dont even have to correct/preview the graphics, rather that the text content alone. W/out the graphics our DTP documents are very lightweight - see IDML...

As I just discovered great PDF handling /I lost some of my original Indesign files and now can only recover final PDFs/ in APub and have additional question: - would image linking work similar as Indesign: i.e. when I point to one missing image/refresh the link/-the other ones from that folder get re-linked too ?

Guys, move the topic if needed. I have to express my full appreciation for the way you provided pdf services within APub. Really, I found it especially valuable because during data migration between my NASes I lost some Indesign documents but still could recover final PDFs from cooperating print house. Looks I can still work on these docs with APub and this huge doc can be still viewed, zoomed and panned with full display resolution and performance. ))) !

Enhancing this productivity thread: Id even say: Drag-and-drop images onto AP window AND /like INDD/ you could then select multiple images AND, holding some control key /CTRL,Shift,Alt/ - align them immediately in even columns/row - see INDD. Linking is priority IMHO. Embedding may have its advantages but it can clogg the app very quickly.

My bad. I WILL. Thanks you thought it over. Hope its/would be possible for quick edit in source app: it happens often you have to review linked images, submitted by the authors, replace some of them, adjust/change some etc. Like 'Edit original' in INDD.

A kind request NOT to forget about sooner /than later ))/ implementing some crash recovery procedure/program/option for APub docs...

I am also to it. If scripting is not possible at the very moment/release of AP - GREP is a must, both in Search/Replace criteria and Styles definition. I would strongly suggest to enable both: Search AND Replace capability in Style definition, NOT Search exclusively...

Could not figure out so far - most probably images are being embedded into APublisher document ? PLEASE consider linking, otherwise larger documents with lots of images would not be usable...

Can't confirm that, have latest Insider's build x64.

As long as we are supposed to test beta both import and export indd/idml ability IS CRITICAL because ITS BETA and if you do your work on beta you always have to be secured with possibility to finish your tasks/documents in the other app. If its not critical - should you use AP for fun only ? )) Imho.

What I found very useful and comfortable is unification of similar/logically analogous menus/elements/actions-all between AFD, APh and AP, this will greatly benefit users in the future when more and more features would be implemented. What are nearest plans for this beta - I mean not to bother developers with the issues/features that should wait? From my/DTP point of view there are lots of lacking features still to be implemented before its fully productive and professional tool but I remember annoucements about AP and the fact the beta IS NOT supposed to be fully equipped tool yet.

Well, thats ok but I expected to work with bitmaps in APhoto rather than vector program? Can I correct it in APhoto? I just only need trim by transparency...

Thanks for reply. Got both, Photo and Designer but for obvious(?) reasons try to get familliar with Photo as possible PS (here: CS5) replacement. I am familiar with sc. 'paper space' and sc. 'model space' per CAD soft analogies but-have to admit-had no idea it may exist in PS. How could I check/verify that oversized layer /in PS?/ ?

Hello, Need to warm the thread up again: have lots of psd files with masked background, in PS its trims by transparency, ie to the rim of visible object, Still trying to switch to APhoto but CLIP CANVAS does not do the job in such case. How could I trim/crop transparent/masked surrounding of the object /need to define an action for this because these are hundreds of such files/...

Great! I can see noticeable speedup for Magic Wand selection, I 'd kindly insist on keeping on speeding it up )) What about trimming/cropping like PS does? What about possible scripting (JavaScript, Python?) feature? I rarely even touch AI now because I prefer AFD without a question, want to achieve same for PS and AFPh...and Indd/AFP Thank you guys, kindly request some more ))

Hi guys, Being happy with interaction between AFD and PS-CS5, I mean smart object paste from AFD->into PS, I would like to extend 'automation'. Is it possible w/existing AFD release to define part of an object/tex ro number/ to increase eg. automatically? I have lots of drawing title blocks and would like to produce them with only changing some number or part of it: Say: we can...? ;-))

Well, sure I can but a bit unsure if it helps/ok, I'll try to make some footage during my work - both in AFP and PS for comparison?/. I use to work on raw photos, then some preprocessing and then extracting from the background in CS5 /PSD files 50-150 MB/, also print preprocessing. -all those automated as much as possible with the Actions and Scripts; it happens >1000 photos to process in relatively short time. I can see noticeable difference in speed in eg. : - raw developing - magic wand selection while extracting from the background if I would like to do it in AFP ))... - Basic transformations are also slower and one can see it clearly when working with a bit larger files. Minor things: - lack of similar CROP tool also hurts a bit but maybe I should change my workflow&habits from CS5? - possible to implement capability of setting new 0,0 = dragging rulers' 0,0 to any point for re-set? /useful whey you have to measure/compare sth/ PS. Yes, I am up to date with the betas.

Id put the cat among pigeons once again /re: fresh discussion about AFPublisher ))) - sorry, cant resists that. and ask AF management team: did you or do you consider compete also on other, neighbouring fields of graphics creation like CAD drawing and/or Sketchup? Just asking, dont get mad ;-))
