Affinity iPad Student

Face_Your_Fears.psdI am following the following tutorial: (time stamped begins at exact location of my issue) As tutorial instructs... I have attached an hsl adjustment to the waterfall layer (background) However, when I try to change the waterfall layer to blue (as tutorial shows) hsl seems to not be working - nothing is happening. (shown in the 2nd video clip below) I then tried it on the boy layer.. also not changing to blue, instead blue pixel blocks appear on the boy image (shown in the 1st video clip below) I closed out Affinity Photo, relaunched it, still having same hsl issue. Ah... gotcha! I watched your video again. At first I thought... maybe because your thumb resting on the screen, was denying affinity of registering your other inputs. but just before that.. you seemed to be able to select other layers just fine while your thumb was resting on your screen. I never encountered this one. I’m definitely stumped here. You probably already checked or did what I’m about to say: • layer didn’t accidentally lock somehow? (even though I saw you didn’t lock it) • Rebooted your iPad? • This part sucks... Save your work to the cloud, delete app and reinstall?

Found this on YouTube. If this has been posted, my apologies. Just wanted to give back to the community that has given me plenty. The following guide, most definitely speeds up workflow. I can confirm what the video below depicts - works on Affinity Photo iPad. Some small alterations are required. Following below steps are performed after tracing removal areas (See video for Kathryn tracing fence...) 1) Go to SELECTION PERSONA, tap the 3 dots. 2) Choose selection from layer. (Bottom of drop down) 3) Go back to PHOTO PERSONA 4) Select “BOTH” layers. (The painted pixel layer & the image layer) 5) Go to in-painting brush 7) Manually paint over 😎 Done!

@RealSkyDiver you most certainly can! @Alfred expressed facts. His advice is always 💯 I have successfully followed Photoshop tutorials as well. (I’m still a newbie myself - just started getting serious with AP this year) Once you know where most things are located in Affinity, it’s pretty much like a game controller. Different games, setup their controls differently - but since you know the controller... you’re able to play all sorts of games. Same thing with Affinity Photo on iPad. @DM1 was telling you this way... to see full video go to question mark, in the main app, type selections and video will start to play for you. Follow the video steps. Note: You can you use your Apple Pencil. I tested it. But Apple Pencil for the single finger tap part only. Still need two fingers for the final select all tap - shown in the video. In the video linked below, I timestamped a neat trick the youtuber demonstrates when removing the background from his subject image. (Remove sky from clouds) Where in Affinity Photo, is the equivalent to this color channel he brought up in Photoshop? For us.. is it in adjustments? (can’t seem to find it) maybe in the develop persona? I’m trying to follow along, hopefully learn these techniques he’s sharing.

I knew I couldn’t be the only one pondering this. I had initially written up this long comment then deleted it, thinking I was getting too technical.😂 Going off my small coding background, as in studies only not work. I am thinking this glitch may be somehow tied to 3 things... • Gallery Growth (as stated in previous post) and the growth of gallery causing memory leaks (I think OP maybe experiencing memory leak) • Code Recalls code instructions having to travel through a lot of... • Bloated Code Hence whenever I try to do something the input doesn’t register until about a second or four later I’m going to take a note out of your book - - start saving stuff elsewhere that is not currently being worked on. May take them awhile to figure this one out.

Oh snap! Never seen this one. Curious, do you have alot of projects / photos sitting in your Affinity app? I ask because on my end noticing... increased consistent lagginess while editing. Conveniently occurring now that my projects gallery has grown significantly these past few weeks.

No, sir.. you were being sarcastic from the beginning and I called you out on it. My communication levels are not on trial here And my communication skills is excellent.. I asked a simple question and you went Str8 up went into a rant on book physics 101, Breaking down how the grasping of the pages from the book feels against your hands. That left me in a super awkward position.. For your response, had nothing to do with the context of my questions - you took it there, so I met you there By wanting to test me for whatever reason.. not my fault you tested, and then you got soaked from the repurcussuions That said.. I’ll leave it at that. You can respond how you may. I won’t engage further - I already called you out on your sarcasm. It would be wise though, for you in the future.. to not respond to people with sarcasms when a question is being asked. We already going thru Covid lock downs in places. You’re correct! It is Apple’s fault. By making it difficult and forcing devs into a roundabout way of doing things on iOS. I get what you saying Alfred... I DID use poor wording in my comment. Not Serifs fault from that aspect. However, Serif can update AP and add the feature, since the round about way - does exist, all I was saying is that.. this part is Serifs fault for not making it happen.

I know it’s a BOOK. No need to breakdown what a book is. wth?! Lol. No where in my post did I ask is this a book - are you high on marijuana? I asked is there a... iPad version (Meaning a workshop book for the iPad version of AP) A digital version (Meaning not physical) if the AP workshop book Another book, in PDF or Ebook... created by somebody else that has good advice on techniques, concepts.. etc that I can be guided to. Though.. thanks for your response regarding the no electronic version.

Is there another PDF book for AP iPad version that is known to be good? If so, where can I get it? Thanks. I am aware, there are many courses on YouTube, Udemy, Skillshare.. etc. I actually have courses I’m following at the moment on those very platforms. That said, I don’t necessarily, at all times - want to watch a follow along video. I’m cool with and actually craving a good laid back reading session.

Wow... that’s why I’m not seeing my RAWs show up? so this is on Serif? All this time I was thinking it was Apple’s fault.

+ 100,000,000,000,000 (keep going..) WHY is this not a thing yet? To guesstimate on my own question... could be two things why we stunt have it yet. 1) Serif probably hasn’t figured out how to optimize their engine? I say this because of how OFTEN AP crashes on me, and I’m on iPad Pro 2020. I can imagine probably worse - when splitting screens, more constraint on the code. They may need to streamline their code and decrease their technical budget if any. 2) Having a real hard time figuring out where to place the UI elements when going split screen.

I’ve been searching for about two days now for a MORE simpler way than what is being shown in this two year old video, regarding color matching for iPad version. Anybody know a much simpler way? I have about 30 compositions to work on. Would take me decades to finish them.. if I was going off this slow way, shown on this video. Please tell me there is a way, akin to AP desktop version. Thanks.

Wow, I’m surprised they haven’t fixed this one yet? As long as this bug been around - must be tough for them to resolve it. Serif is usually good at getting rid of bugs. Either difficult or not very high in their priorities list.

Hello community 👋 hope everyone is safe and doing well during these tumultuous times. Regarding my issue.. the video I embedded shows the problem. (App Crashes around final 3 seconds of video) I have tried the following: Rebooting ipad Powering Down iPad No other apps running in the background Closing out app and relaunching it I am not running any form of AP beta (nor do I want to, wiped out all my information last time I tried - triple yikes!) I am on the latest version of AP (shown in attached image) I am on the latest version of iOS (shown in attached image) I am on iPad Pro 2017 model (10.5) Would appreciate any insight on this. UPDATE @Paul Mudditt @Aammppaa I managed to get text path to work (have to tap exactly on the shape line) not inside it or below it - that’s the mistake I was doing. Still my text, that type below the circle, is upside down, (This is my issue) I want it, to NOT be upside down. Can anybody show me where in the type settings I can change the text orientation? Please see video below. SIDENOTE: It’s not letting me tap (inside the circle to place text in the bottom like the tutorial or @Paul Mudditt example) I am being forced to place my text either on top of the circle on the outside, or below the circle on the outside. which you can see in my video prior to this post. @Paul Mudditt Sadly, it’s still not working. Did exactly as you showed and the tutorial @Aammppaa linked. It’s pretty straight forward. I have it memorized. 1) duplicate shape 2) Choose art text & text studio (I think it’s called) 3) tap inside, below the shape 4) Start typing 5) At this point it’s not even working any more, text path won’t activate I’m on 2017 iPad Pro running iOS 13.3.1 AD 1.8 Using 1st gen apple pencil No apps running in the background. When text path was working (about 20 minutes ago) text was still coming out upside down. I’m leaving video below. If someone can let me know what I’m doing wrong I would appreciate it.
