I didn't know that PNG has HDR mode.

There are some effects I wanted to do with some of my photos that cannot be done with AP. That is why I got Affinity Designer.
But when I tried to use the vector related tools in AD on my photos, such as the warp group, it would not work. That is why I contacted the Affinity Team.They told me they were still working on vector conversion tools for raster images and didn't know when they would be ready. So I asked them about 3rd party conversion tools to convert my photos to vector so that I could then do the manipulations with Designer. That was when they referred me to this forum.
But since the 3rd party vectorizers cannot preserve the color gradients in the original photos I will have to wait until Affinity has something ready for me to try.
If the Upscayl program works I will let you know.

For raster objects, use the Mesh Warp live filter in Photo. -

I'm reluctant to pay for it without trying it first. It has only 2 reviews and one of those reviews is bad. The developer offered to help fix the problem that customer was having but there was no followup comment on whether the customer got the problem fixed or not.When I first tried Affinity Photo it gave me a 14 day free trial period before requiring payment.
I think I will wait and see if Affinity comes up with some more tools for their programs.

Actually what you need is not Smart Object.
Smart Object does not generate the detail of enlarged pictures.
What you need is an enlarger tool. -
Smart Object is not just a "vector" technically, it's embedded/encapsulated objects precisely.
In Affinity, everything behave like Smart Object. (you can resize without quality loss, so called non-destructive.)
But Affinity also has "embedded document" which is encapsulated objects. this is closer to Smart Object. -
See my topic also. problem is not just whether true vector or not.

Suggestion for arrangement/insertion commands
Layer>Arrange
Move to Front = 最背面へ
Move Forward One = 前面へ
Move Back One = 背面へ
Move to Back = 最背面へ
Move Inside = 内側へ
Move Outside = 外側へ
Layer>Insertion
Top = 最前面
Same goes for the toolbar commands.
Also please revise the toolbar commands below. (to make them consistent)
Insert behind the selection = 選択オブジェクトの背面へ挿入
Insert at the top of the layer = 最前面へ挿入
Insert inside the selection = 選択オブジェクトの内側へ挿入

But if formula is not supported, +1cm can be just 1cm.
Scaling by only percentage can not scale things at equal intervals. -

It would be nice if I could input a number with a unit in the scale instead of percentage.

Would be nice if palletizing can create a global/shared pallete from entire document or selected elements.
Each exported slices often have inconsistent color on continuous area such as solid color background. -

Yes, it would be a good idea to have two purposes in the same tool rather than adding a new tool.

Reset the settings by starting Affinity with Ctrl key or reinstall Affinity. -
Is Affinity using encoder libs below?

I feel Affinity's encoding is not good enough.
They have often have a quality below the average for its settings.
Please implement better encoder to Affinity if it hasn't been implemented yet. -
I think it would be beneficial for Serif and Affinity users to prove a SDK/Lib for viewer apps to 3rd party developers.
So viewer/DAM apps can show high-res preview of Affinity files.
