With this attitude we all could be happy with Photoshop Elements.

Now I want to switch on again. The moderators argue on the whole that the alignment of a text to a self-constructed path is a design element and thus a case for the designer. Then it is also inconsistent that in Affinity photo forms such as star, gear wheel, cloud etc. are found. These are basically only design elements, too. @Murph7355: In Photoshop Elements it is only possible to align text to paths, but not within paths - apart from prefabricated forms.

Convert layer mask to selection
MartinK replied to MartinK's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Oh, how simple. Thanks! -
No I thought primarily at Affinity Photo (I have the windows beta). And there is only a rudimentary function to choose red, green and blue shades without the possibility to choose colors by choice respectively to exclude them (with a pipette). I know about the compatibility of Affinity Photo and Designer, but I already had several crashes when I moved a file back and forth. Of course I know that Affinity Photo still has beta status.

Unnecessary behavior at selections
MartinK replied to MartinK's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Oh, I didn't know the hint with CTRL-J - thanks (also works in Photoshop Elements, as I can see). -
Hello, I've played around with Affinity Photo again and I've encountered a behavior that, in my opinion, interferes with the workflow. An example: In Photoshop Elements I load an image and create a copy with CTRL-J. I create a selection with the selection brush, press CTRL-C and CTRL-V to create a new layer with the selected element. I go back to the copied layer and create with the selection brush another selection, press CTRL-C and CTRL-V to create a new layer with the selected item. At Photo Affinity I go the same way. Only after the creation of the first selection and the generation of a new layer the selection remains, so that it has to be removed first, which is completely unnecessary and irritating.

Hello, I have a problem with the mask function. To illustrate this as clearly as possible, I would like to illustrate this by means of a practical example in which I proceed step by step. Maybe someone can help me? First, I set a dog free with the pickup brush. Then I go on Refine edges. I refine the mask and set the output to New Layer with Mask. The mask is done. Now I create a new layer with a gradient and place it under the mask. I want to refine a bit later and click on the mask with the right mouse button on Refine mask. Then I get this: I think the reason therefor is the mark Follow contrast limits. Ok, I can disable it so then it looks like this: But if I want to change the mask for some reason, the detached pixels are still present. In any case, the mask looks different. I must say I'm pretty irritated. By the way, Affinity Photo started out on my longer experiment, spinning around and showed, among other things, this result:

Reproducible crashes with tif

@Jon: That was fixed fast. Thank you! -
Hello, is there a plan to advance the brush options like they are in Photoshop? Regards, Martin

Hi MEB, thanks for your solution, it works fine. But last night I figured out how to do it - so I have to say that the current crop function is not even bad: If I want to cut a picture I just go to the point reduce - voilà! As simple as that. :) And than I can easy add empty space at the picture. A checkbox to make the crop destructive as a matter of fact would be useful but so it's not really bad how I thought before. I'm looking forward to the progress of Affinity software! @Fixx: Ok, but what if I already have a cropped picture? And the problem is solved as you can read now. Thanks. @DavidMac: Your pictures are fascinating! Really interesting. I like this kind of art.
