  1. Unless you can turn off CMY I don’t see that you can create true duotones, I mean true duotones I.e two specific colours only
  2. No matter who it is that’s making it difficult for AI integration in Affinity Photo to work on all platforms, there are many competitors out there integrating AI into there software quite successfully which can be used on all platforms. Strange we were all told that being merged into Canva would enhance the development of Affinity products and give better access for them to develop the software further. They referred to us as the Affinity community in there communications to tell us they were merging. What they omitted to tell us was that a very large sector of there “community” would be excluded from some development. Canva are a large company whereby Affinity should be able to pull on resources to get over problems like this, that’s as I understood it when Affinity announced the merge.
  3. Just as a Matter of interest, is that On1 PhotoRaw 2025 you are talking about?
  4. Since Affinity have chosen to restrict its updates in full to Silicon systems, then can i suggest those not happy invest in On1 PhotoRaw2025. It has full AI functionality and gives you everything that Affinity has just released and will, unlike Affinity run on any system. I have to say given that both Adobe and On1 apparently can develop A1 functionality without restricting its users, why Affinity says they found it too difficult. I don’t accept development restrictions like that in this day and age and seems a poor excuse to me particularly as they said to us they would be better able to develop as a company being bought by Canva having more resources. Dont get me wrong, I have been a supporter of Affinity since around 2014. They have a great suite of programs. It’s just a little disappointing that I have to switch between Affinity and others external programs to take advantage of AI for certain tasks which I should be able to do within Affinity. My advice in the circumstances is to invest in On1 PhotoRaw 2025…it really is an alternative.
  5. I don’t know if this is what you’re talking about but I have posted several times about the ability to create true duotones etc etc which means having the option to turn off CMY and add spot colours. This does not seem on the horizon at Present but has been available within InDesign for ages.
  6. What a short sighted development!! As has been said by far the most users of affinity products are going to be intel or windows equivalent. Fortunately, I have On1 photoRaw 2025 and this program has AI technology so I can use photoRaw to do all that Afinity photo AI is offering in this update. Shame though that here we are with competitors providing AI on intel platform and Affinity has chosen to limit AI to a chosen few…….WOW!
  7. Great recent update to 2.6. Can we now look to being able to create true duotones etc. I raised this a long while ago but after a number of years of updates it’s still not possible to turn off CMY and add spot colours as in InDesign. I may be wrong here but I wouldn’t have thought it difficult to implement. I hope you may give this more thought.
  8. Yeah, thanks for feedback. At least I know what it is now. Thanks again.
  9. Yep! Can confirm zooming in and out again does indeed bring them back. Now where do I go from here I ask myself. This surely has to be a bug, am I right! Are others experiencing this.
  10. I think I see where you are coming from now. I think you might be right it could be something to do with the scroll bar. Just been trying to use publisher now but it’s all but unusable. I’m using latest Ventura version not sonoma. Mostly getting to selected page via pages tab. Haven’t tried zooming in, will do that and come back
  11. Thanks for replies but it’s not the scroll bar that’s the issue, it's both the bounding text or picture box and handles I’m having problems with. If you go to the text tool or picture tools and draw out on your page, you usually see the drawn box line with handles. I can’t see them, that is to say I initially see them but if I go to another page and then back again the bounding line and handles no longer appear, nor can I select anything in that box weather it’s text or a picture. I’m not sure if that’s clear enough but I can’t think how else to explain it. It seems like some kind of corruption. I’m wondering if maybe if I delete my current publisher software and download again it might clear. Failing all else I will probably do that.
  12. Ok here’s a problem which may be easily solved but at the moment I can’t get to the bottom of it. In publisher the bounding box and handles keep disappearing. I select a box either text or picture and the bounding box and handles appear. Next time I go to select it, the bounding and handles don’t appear. I can see in the layers panel that the box is selected but I can’t see the box or handles. If I select text tool and pull out a text box I can’t see the boundary box or handle but I know it has drawn out a box because I can see it in the layers panel. Anybody got any ideas what might be happening. I’ve looked in preferences etc but can’t drill down to see anything wrong. I’m sure it’s something simple but right now it’s driving me potty as I can’t create anything in publisher with it like this. Could it be a bug as I’ve updated to the latest update that came up on launch.
  13. I and others have been trying to get Affinity to acknowledge that the page spread layout in Publisher is basic and needs to be able to create more than a 2 page spread for some time, since it was launched in fact. Creatives need to be able to create not just visually but create with physically unique folds as well. Affinity have not ever, to my knowledge, accepted this to be necessary for creatives so asking Affinity to include AI capability into their suite is likely to be a long haul without any guarantee it will ever be seen as necessary within the Affinity suite. But of course all this Ai is quite new and I suspect Affinity will be thrown to some extent by the speed of AI evolution. It would only be a complete fool that ignores evolution so I think Affinity will eventually have no choice but to move forward in this direction, and perhaps they are behind the scene, who knows. They wouldn’t tell us at this point even if they were. Does anyone remember ‘hot metal type’ and ‘typesetting! I bet no one thought then digital printing etc would be the future and look now. Lesson to be learned, ignore evolutionary advances at your peril. Sermon over.
  14. I wasn’t aware it was a problem until now. Yeah, agree would be nice to get sorted.
  15. Ah you’re the man!! I’ve been around the block a few times but learnt something new today, so simple. Just goes to show you can never know it all. Thanks Walt, all good now. saved me some heartache. Have a good day, or night as the case may be.
  16. Ok Walt will try that. I did what I thought was resetting the brushes when I went into preferences but didn’t follow procedure what you’ve just written here. Let you know if it works.
  17. Suddenly my brushes (all my brushes!) have disappeared. I highlighted a category which I no longer felt I needed, hit delete category and all my brushes suddenly disappeared. No problem I thought, I will just reimport the ones I need. Simply you would have thought. Here comes the problem, Affinity photo will not let me import any brushes, no matter whether they are affinity supplied brushes or third party. I keep getting message “No compatible brushes found”. I have tried restarting photo, I have rebooted my computer just to cover all angles. I’m all out of ideas. Affinity tech boys over to you I guess. Hopefully you can come up with an answer.
  18. I have an iMac and I use a Huion tablet and have done for the last 3 years. It works perfectly well. Go to their website and have a look.
  19. Here I go again, still can't believe I'm having to raise this again; Still cannot get access to own created gradients via the FX Layer effect gradient overlay window. I have raised this a number of times over the past few years but still no progress. I had hoped this would have been fixed in V2. Surely this can't be that hard to be able to link back to your own gradients from the Layer effects gradient overlay window. You can get solid colours ok but not gradients. As I said in my last post, great progress people and a huge move forwards, well done, but honestly guys and gals can we please sort these annoying fundemental issues as well.
  20. I'm on Mac Ventura 13.0.1 and don't have any problems with tables so don't see how it can be a software problem like a bug otherwise we would all have the same problem. Must be attributable to individuals specific system setups somehow. Anyway, I can confirm that on my Mac running Ventura all seems well...at the moment!
  21. Great update overall, particularly in designer…..however one thing I and other creatives have been asking for, for some time now is the ability to create more than a two page spread. Yes I hear all the feedback about making a page size larger and using guides. Great until you need to make changes to the folds etc when creating non standard brochure folds. Soon we will be in 2023, why are affinity refusing for so long now to recognise this standard function which has been in InDesign now for years. Is it considered irrelevant and a waste of time! Great work people for the update but for godsake can we have a little consideration for creatives, not just for book and magazine publishers/ photographers. I expect I will be inviting a few choice comments from some but so be it. This forum does tend to be used as a social media platform rather than a constructive forum.
  22. I can’t see how Affinity guys and gals have any time to be thinking of software expansion as I am of the opinion they are likely to be already stretched with upgrading the suite to version 2. I would prefer they concentrate on that rather than get way laid by trying to be all things to all people. Let’s get the suite up to full power first as most users are missing a number of useful functions across the suite which are available in other similar software but as yet are not available in the suite. I can only hope we will all see some progress in the not too distant future but these things take time.
  23. In InDesign you have the ability to switch off CMY and use say black(K) and any other chosen spot colour to create true duotones/tritones in your designs. Is this likely to be considered seriously for inclusion in version 2? I do hope so because it’s important in creative work and screen printing.
  24. Well I paid for the NIc plugins when it was owned by Google but later when the software was taken over by DxO I realised I was going to have to shell out again if I wanted the plugin to continue to seemlessly work with Affinity Photo. It was a real bummer but I bit the bullitt... simple as. Sometimes you just have to do that. If your making money from your design work then there is no reason why you should not put a bit aside now and again for future development needs. I learned a long time again that to avoid workflow problems you need to keep your system and software up to date. If on the other hand design is just a hobby then I can understand the reluctance to not want to shell out again and again. And just to clarify, he’s not happy is he hence why he has posted this topic and the advice given is very mixed and doesn’t seem to have resolved his problem.
  25. Forgive me for saying but this topic seems very protracted. If you have a new MacBook or a fairly up to date one, is that the case?, and you have the recent Affinity Photo version then Version 5 of Nic will work. I know you have said you don’t use it very much and it’s not big part of your workflow so if that’s the case why are you giving yourself so much grief, live without it or buy the version 5 which I know works great with Monterey OS and have a peaceful life. Don’t take this the wrong way, it’s just an observation.
