  1. And that’s exactly why it is superior to his idea. He can only cover a few hundred sentences that are not even that common and that are in the language (English) that is so hard to translate to other languages due to its idiomatic nature (I have never understood why in English you often have to say the opposite of what you mean, or worse something that has nothing to do with what you are trying to say, such as saying an idea is cool as if it was some kind of temperature, or to call something good bad, etc).
  2. Which is quite simple. That is why the system works not just all over China with all of its languages, but in other countries. And you do not need to know what the word is in Chinese, only what the glyph means in your own language. Chinese dictionaries exist for more languages than for the system you propose. In a way, Egyptian hieroglyphics make more sense, but there are more Chinese dictionaries, and it is much easier to find any glyph in them.
  3. Wouldn’t it be simpler to use Chinese glyphs? There is more of them, so you can express more ideas. And there are plenty of fonts for them.
  4. Tinge of the ginge in the hair? Red-mane eddy makes it flare! redmane-eddy.cube
  5. Why, oh why, is it that every time I DOWNLOAD something from here to my Downloads directory, Affinity assumes I want to switch my working directory, my save-to directory, my exports directory, to Downloads? Why can’t it figure out that an import directory and an export directory are two completely different things?! This is so annoying that I have been increasingly hesitant to download anything for import from the forum. At any rate, thanks for your styles, I am just frustrated by Serif programmers, not by you.
  6. Thank you for your kind words. I hope everyone clicks the like button on your message.
  7. It happened fifty-three years ago, and I remember it as if it was just yesterday. August 21, 1968. I was on vacation in East Berlin spending two weeks as a guest of a family whose son Michael had spent two weeks with me and my parents in Bratislava that July. Michael and I spent the day in Potsdam, visiting Sans Souci, the palace the Emperors of Germany used to live in. We were always talking in English but on that day my German friend and I agreed we would only speak German from then on so I could practice speaking it. In the evening we returned to Berlin. Michael knocked at the door to my room and when he came in, he started speaking in English. Deutsch! I insisted, But he said this was too important: While we were touring the Imperial Residence, Czechoslovakia, my home country, was invaded by five Warsaw Pact countries to “save us from ourselves” (as 1968 was the year we were trying to replace Communism with Socialism with a human face). I spent the rest of my vacation glued to the radio listening to the reports of what was happening, including how Soviet tanks would just roll over students who tried to stop them, and would shot others, too. The best year of my life turned into the worst one. To commemorate, here is Blood.cube.
  8. I made this one this morning. Oneirophile.cube, as its name implies, is useful for the creation of a dream world, perhaps one on Cloud Nine.
  9. Веома лепо! Veľmi pekné! Very nice!
  10. Normally, when I create a LUT I am quite deliberate about it. That is, I have an effect in mind and make a LUT for it. Occasionally, on the other hand, I just mix up some numbers and only then take a look at what they do. Today I wrote a small utility (that I will add to my library shortly) that allows me to chain different effects produced by matrices. Nothing new about that, I have chained matrices many times before. But after I wrote this utility, I needed to test that it works, so I just ran it after typing the names of various matrices I have created over the years, some that I have even forgotten what they were for. I expected a horrible result, but it was not too bad. I ended up removing the first matrix in the chain and adding another one at the end of the chain (by chain I mean, applying one effect, then another on top of that, yet another of top of all of that, etc). The result surprised me. It looked good with many images but not all of them because it was crushing the blacks too much. I then made a LUT from it with a 55% efficacy (well, after trying different efficacies, I did not pull the 55% from a hat). Since I created it from a random combination of matrix effects, I did not have a specific name for it, so I just called it MQ55.cube. Here is what it looks like:
  11. How about a 19th Century style Sepia.cube? A very simple LUT with six of its eight lines being the same.
  12. When I was younger, many postcards overdid the colors, making the pictures overly saturated. I made a LUT that hopefully does not oversaturate even if it does saturate, sort of. See postcard.cubefor what I mean (and tell me if I did overdo it). This LUT may appear superficially the same as the Anti-Pastel I posted earlier. But it is different. I am not even sure it is technically making colors more saturated, more like more satiated, if that makes sense.
  13. And on the hot Summer days, especially around Noon, we are flooded with UV light rays. Allegedly we do not see them, but if we pay attention we can see colors shifting toward sort of a low-saturation bluish. As with my Hot Summer Day.cubeLUT.
  14. I have just made this one up in the hope it would bring out the colors of a Sunset.cube, like this:
  15. Oh, this is fun! You have heard of a catfish. But now here is a catwhale: 😽
  16. Thanks. Though I must be missing something. When I tried the cigarette ones, they were in grayscale. When I tried to set the color to what the filter should be, the filter looked right but the cigarette paper was light orange. How do I fix this?
  17. I have been posting, so I am signed in. Maybe it’s just because it is Friday the 13th. 🙀
  18. Well, I have just found them in a different thread and was able to download them from there.
  19. Oh, I tried several times. But if I click on it, this comes up:
  20. I guess you were lucky. This is what I see:
