Hi MEB. Would be grateful to have a solution here. It seems Catalina is not too friendly towards several Affinity products according to these fora. In my particular case it just shuts down my iMac as soon as I try something on an image, rendering the programme totally useless ... -

Hmm, time to cough up then ... If you do decide to go ahead and go with Affinity, as many of us have, Chris P Williams runs you through the installation perfectly here:

On a high speed train at the moment, with poor Wifi signal so I can't see your file. The classic suggestion would be copying the image onto another layer, make it black and white and increase the contrast. Then select blacks i.e. the trees and work from there.

Away from my computer for a while but with regard to the " secret ninja apps", in case you didn't know already you can install the now free Google Nik Collection under Filters in Affinity Photo too.

I'd recommend starting with an HSL layer and going on from there. OT - Am I right in saying you're a Sopranos fan :-) -
Select Sampled Colour. Adjustments: Channel Mixer.
