  1. I don't know what's going on, but since I made screenshot with cmd+shift+3 everything became good. Every method, Mac screenshot, Moonsnap, Copy Image to Clipboard, works proper now. Kind of magic. Thanks!
  2. No problem with drag&drop. Catalina 10.15.5 (and previous either) Noticed that don't have such problem on Mojave, by the way.
  3. I did it 2 ways: just copying pictures form browser (context menu Copy Image to clipboard) and taking a shot with Moon snap for example.

  5. Can't normally paste any picture from clipboard, us it was in previous versions. Pasted content looks alike it's opacity dropped to 5% with downsampled resolution. In example the shot of this page pasted into artboard.
  6. Can't work normally either! Selecting locked layers double time my workflow! Roll back to 1.7.3 on Appstore please. 😭
  7. Affinity generally wasn't changed at all. Seems like developer was give up on it. Between 1.7 and 1.8 was YEAR! And what we finally get? Nothing really useful. Plugins for this time boosted Sketch and Figma, but AD is stay on same place.
  8. What's wrong with locked layers? Why they are including in selection? I can't move any unlocked object if locked layer selected with them. Previous version locked layer behaviour was right, now it's pain. Didn't find any option in Preferences to adjust it.

  10. Hi again. In common workflow I have two problems: 1. Miss of strong defined Shift+ scale. Why shift+ scale works different for objects, groups and text? Making rectangle -> transforming using Shift -> OK. Group it - Shfit transform -> W w w aaaat? Same action cause right opposite result! And why shift+ scale toggle free transform - any other application do it right opposite. Can you add a checkbox for that in preferences at least? 2. Why copying object through Cmd+ is counting like 2 (two) action? I always have problem with dublicates because of that. Common situation : Cmd+Drag -> Undo, then after several minutes you find undeleted duplicates. It's so illiogical: I' making one action an must do 2 Undos for cancel it. Cmd+ is modifier of action, not the action by itself. I'm not using history panel, I find it useless at all.
  11. Hm, I'm dazed and confused by this post. UI bright toggling theme gathering more people than conversation of product's future and improvement. Something wrong with this world.
  12. Oh, didn't notice that fact, that Serif is based in Nottingham. :) All of my thoughts is about ideal instrument. I think Serif don't have to integrate prototyping tool into AD. I think it need to be separate but with one click export. Or Persona-alike mode. Symbols is a step in this way, but now it looks loose and helpless. All that tricks we have see with symbols is looks like mispredicted side-effect. And they definitely can't be part of natural workflow. I think Serif need to give us some API or SDK to boost modernisation, something like DOM-objects in FIreworks.
  13. It's totally true :) Other indi projects walk that way - Gravit.io and Vectr for example. If it's some kind of joke? Can't understand it, sorry And How about another one feature - Volume saving transform. Application - proper dynamic drawing and pre-animation.   14. Don't you see how many efforts you need to do this? And it's not so obvious even for advanced users.
  15. It's not true - you can do it easily a lot of times. Apply transparency> Group> Apply transparency > Group>.... Same trick works with multiply effects. By the way gradient tool on bitmap works like tint tool and you can also adjust transparency.
  16. One of weak side of Freehand it has lose .png export and primitive colour wheel. If only Macromedia has a time to make it right :)
  17. Windows: It's not about simplify or you conformity ("ok, i'm not really like it, but I can go with that"). I'm talking about way of interface evolution. Today we challenge to responsive interface design, the mac platform by it self is obligate to do it. We don't have to learn hard to get in expert system (which AD is), we are - artists, designers. We are about creative, not about to be expert in Photoshop or Illustrator, because it instruments. instruments don't make you designer - instruments are for help to create. Why Sketch app community grow fast? Why every week I certainly will read another article - " The reason why our company migrate to Sketch from Photoshop and Illustrator". Layers: Just like before - layers it's "simulacra" - invented by Adobe. They don't have to be centre of artist workflow. Ph and AD give to much attention and abilities to them. Our workflow must be like on paper - inside canvas. Parametric: I think you didn't get, its not about primitives, its about complex objects arrangement. And it's just new type of object, not another window :) Simulations: can i imagine? :)
  18. Pre scriptum: have a big trouble to attach images right, sorry (help if you can) Pre pre scriptum: English is not my native language, so sorry for grammar and other mistakes. Intro I’m professional designer almost for 14 years and i have used and tried a lot of tools for my work for this period and now my workflow include AD and Sketch. I’m even switch platform for with 2 apps. And now for one year of experience with AD I want to note my feelings and suggestions how I want to see the future of application that i have make a bet on. Main idea - I wan’t to save a time and attention in my work flow. (Disclaimer : all of suggestions visualise are draft, don't be too hard on them. I've just explain the congseptions Let me start from bad things. A lot of windows - bad AD make a bet for a windows interface and i think it’s bad. Because, I think, you make it with careful eye on Photoshop and Illustrator, which didn’t have change they products almost from start. And they make it in order to please old users, and don’t think about new. You just think about this fact - AD have 23 (!) working windows (Actually 24: 1.5.3 added another one). I don’t say i’m use all 23 at once, but 10 windows I'm using all the time. Tabs don’t solve the problem - I’m just wasting my time switching between them. It’s annoying! If functionality will grow (and I think it’s just a reality) we soon will be buried under windows. That is what happening with Illustrator right now: over 30 (!) windows and it number is grows with any new installed plugin. Solution 1. One panel that show property of current object or selection: Nothing selected - properties of selected tool (pointers, primitives, text and on and on) Object selected - object properties depends on object type (primitive, curve, text, group) You realise this mechanism for the pointers, primitives , but ignore it for the objects? Why? The main idea for this - I need to see information and properties only for selected object. If i selected primitive it’s obvious - i don’t want to see information about text, curves, symbols, etc. The products that fine solve it problem is Freehand MX (yeah it’s old, but they are first, property panel made my first 6 years in business), Fireworks (almost good), Xara (if only they have good curve editing). Sketch App - almost good Paint Code 3 - probably the best solution for 2D editors And the best solution - Cinema 4D (product that have huge functionality and abilities can be controled almost just from one panel). But it's bit out of margin of 2D editor. My variation draft (please don’t stuck on details, catch the principles) 2. Particularly move ability to change properties live, right on object. Why not? Such things that uses in work flow all the time we can move right on object. Fills and strokes colors, stroke width, fill type. Bit noisy? Ok what about toggle with a hotkey and it appears right under cursor? Layer oriented - bad If you look at usual Photoshop users work flow you’ll see one fact - they spend half of time for work with layer panel: organise layers, search (!!!) needed layer, working with adjustments and effects on them. It’s waste so huge time, that users even forgot what they working with objects on canvas. By the way, did you tried to rearrange layers using layer panel? I did and it was torture: - if you wanna rearrange two objects that to far from each other to see them in panel, i need to have special knowledge that layer must be places exact in left upper (or lower) corner of panel to start it scrolling, and it scrolls so unpredictable, that i was drop a tear. - have you ever tried to select two or more layer adjustments? I did and it was stunning when I can't, because the last selected was just off and nothing else problems are countless Down with layer editing! Solution Object oriented. In fact i have to open layer panel only then i want to unhide object (N.B. may be we can separate hided object from visible? ) or organise them before export, in other time this panel useless. It means: i see object on canvas - i can select it and edit. Object arrangement must be instant between overlapping objects, even they stand far in layer hierarchy. Because it’s obvious - I want to change arrangement of selected layer if only it overlapping (or being overlapped by) some other layer. If layer don’t touch each other in this moment - they arrangement is not interesting me. (for example : I didn’t know about Freehand or Flash layer panel for a long time, it’s almost useless there, but arrangement wasn’t steal a time, and I was concentrated on canvas, not on some layers. That sent us to previous problem/solution and move all effects and adjustments to an object property. You don’t have to show all available effects and adjustments in special window. Make them applicable. Best solutions - Fireworks, Sketch and Cinema 4D. Poor control over curves. You trying catch up for the Sketchup making «symbols», but you forgot the thing where you was good at first place - curve editing. I want total control over my curves, because it’s 30 % of workflow time. So, follow tools, I think, «must be».Knife (oohh will kill for a good knife) Points alignment (we align objects, why we can’t align points between themselves or objects?) Welding points (it’s necessary right after Boolean operations at least) Fast group of points selection ( for example relative to origin point of object: from left, from right,below and under it) Life expand and shrink stroke Free point movement over the curve (without deform path) Lack of third party plugins You got to face it - you can’t do all of your road map quickly(all we remember how long it takes to get updates 1.5 and 1.4). And you can’t spread your time for «unserious» experiments. So why you ignore power of community? Let your fans improve your project. Crowdsourcing is powerful: even Adobe do it from Photoshop 3.0. Give users flexible API or something, and see how your project will grow exponentially. Ok, stop criticism for now. Let me suggest something really new for 2D editors, that can change workflow of illustrators. Killer Features Something completely new. The new level of vector editing : parametric object drawing. It saves a lot of time, give us new inspirations and abilities. Cloners The lot of time in object editing we waste on cloning and rearrange for similar (or not so similar)objects. Now you have 2 generic tools to work with it : duplicate (yak!) and align. And it’s a long time to work with, before you get right result. My suggest - new object type Cloner. You’ve just put objects in it and adjust they principle of cloning! We can easily rearrange objects in any moment (because it’s object) and realise instance when we need. Adding some randomness is giving us new principle of canvas editing, just imagine what kind of textures, backgrounds, ornaments, will be appears faster then you imagine before! Tables, layouts creation is the matter of seconds now. Examples of using cloner Simulations Physical simulations engines is not problem right now about last 6 years. Box 2D is a standard right now. So why illustrators can’t use it’s abilities for they needs? My suggest - new object - Simulator. Main idea - put my objects that i want to place in more realistic arrange. We create Simulator, put objects inside and gives them roles : ColliderS, Rigid bodies, Emitters, Attractors. Proceed simulations and realise objects instances when we need. Tadaaa! We have fast and realistic draw in the minutes! In conclusion - that my wishes, I'm not offensive demanding it. I hope Affinity will be in progress and only time will show us are you on way with users or not.
  19. Yes i did, but it's still not so usable. It's working only with flat fills, but not working with gradient nodes, but it is a very common operation. How it suppose to be (IMHO) - When i choose the node on gradient I press and hold ALT, and pointer toggle to Eyedropper, then i choose a colour from donor, and it applies to this very knob (not to whole gradient), and don't switch my gradient to flat fill. Release ALT and eyedropper toggles back.
  20. Greeting Affinity Designer developers! First of all thanks a LOT for your such cosy and powerful tool. Second one - sorry for my little english, i'm not common english speaker. I'm designer and illustrator with 13 years experience and did tried and use a lot of vector editors, but most of them didn't get so close for my needs as your AD, so i even switched my working platform to Mac. Before my favorites was (in order of history) Freehand 11MX, Fireworks and sometimes Xara. Adobe products make me sick (fireworks is totaly Macromedia product, conception at least). So, close to topic. The most important things when you working with vector is - vector editing and color editing. Everything else is not so important (effects, brushes, etc). You made it well, but still not perfect. So here is my suggestions to improve. Color chooser I always working with open color chooser window, because panel - Colour is TOO TINY for working with color, it don't have valuable precision. Default size of color picker in this panel is 224x40 px! So it's less than 1px for 1 hue step and 2,5 times (!) less for Saturation and Lightness. It's not acceptable! So Color Chooser window is solve this problem , but it haven't Fill/Stroke switch. Think about it. But what I did in this case ? TWO color panels (default size 256x256 px): one for Fills and one for Strokes. It will save a time and reduce mistakes, because you always forget in which state Fill/Stroke switch is. And it's not bad if Layer panel will get smaller, in good editor nobody cares about layers. Everything you need to know about object state is it on the top or below current. Strictly define object position is not necessary. You always can send it back or bring it on top, or adjust it by hotkeys. Color eyedroper Why it does'nt works instant? Why we need first take the sample and then click on the color to apply it? Make it instant or at least make new tool, that instantly apply eyedroped color. Knife tool Need it so much you can't even imagine. I always need to cut or split path in different places and how i do it now: Add one point at start and one at the end of supposed segment I need to cut. Break Curve Appart at the "Start" and delete segment from there. And I need to do it exactly in that way that path follows. Isn't it extremely hard? What i need is the cutting line that split path in points of intersection. I think it's not a big problem for you Smart Add Boolean Common problem two mirrored square triangles that have one conjoined hypothenuse, you make Boolean Add, and hope you get the Rectangle. But what? It's still two triangles joined in 1 object? But why ? It have 4 conjoined vertex and 2 sides? That bug have a lot off editors. But it solves with adjustable precision of boolean operations. I think. Close points welding Almost same situation, but now i have "booled"(made from boolean operations) Rectangle. And i pick a vertex (any that was on hypothenuse), and want to curvate it with (super awesome, i can't express how i love it) Corner Tool, and... I can't . Why ? Because here is two (!) points in same position! Why you always did'nt weld point at least if they have same coordinates? Every editor do. Please do something Next few suggestions is not critical but it improve workflow for good. Outside artboard object visible. I can't understand why you hide object outside artboard? I'ts Abobe alike. It's not useful. Space outside artboard designers use like asset place. Here we save our variations and parts for work. It's very cosy. Inside art board we assemble composition, outside it's holy place that you was just throw away from us. At least make it adjustable to see. Line preview Typical situation : Place one point, and set place for a second, but wait, why i can't hypothetical line preview between those to points? Is it so hard to make? I want to see what it be during drawing. Text bounds Oh, that's heavy. Did you ever tried to edit or adjust text of any size lower than 32? Frame around text overlaps text so nasty and bad i can't even express :) I can't say what the font it's, I can't sometimes even read what i wrote, I can't fast check my text composition. It's bad. Please - remove those damn bounds or make them on demand or toggle. Vector Brushes Now you have bitmap brushes but they a so unuseful, wofff. Why i simply can't paste part of brush from artboard? You always need to save bitmap, load it, swear, save-load again, and so on. Make it simpler. Just paste it. Freehand have it more than 15 years ago. :) Look there And bugs for a dessert. 8 last edited path are always perform with sick purple bound with a center in stroke (just right around fill margin). It's off only if you toggle Pan or Zoom tool. Thank's for being patient to my nagging :) But I love you'r app, and I want to make it better. Hope one day you kill Adobe :) Any one who agreed with my positions - thumbs up! :)
