  2. Hello!

I think metadata nowadays is very important. So, for me it could be useful have a panel for metadadata to include keywords in a file.

This way you can have photos, images, logos, illustrations, layouts and so on with its metadata included. It looks that only Affinity Photo has this tool.

I hope that in the 1.11 versions of Designer, Photo and Publisher would be able to have some kind of standard panel to include metadata in the documents that this applications create and you can include the metadata in the other exported formats too.

    Thanks for reading.

    🙂

  3. Hi!

First things, first: Your applications are wonderful and awesome. They are a must for me and lots of people. Getting better and better every day, so keep the good way, team! 🙂

I would like you to create a new tool that will be able to make a shape or figure that requires a little time to get done by hand (manually).
I do not know what to be its name. Maybe umbrella. I make and use it every now and then to use it as a sunset or sunrise or whatever.

Maybe the tool will have some parameters (you know: the interactive little red points to change them):

Number of sectors or parts, some of them larger than the others alternativelly, the external part of the sector if it is concave, hollow or convex and so on...

I think that with the image attached is good to understand the meaning of the new “umbrella tool”.

I know that Designer has similar tools, but the key of the “umbrella tool”  is that have “divided sectors”.

    Thank you
    ;-)

    ;-)

  4. Hi!

In Affinity Designer to apply effects to text and objets is made via Layer - Layer effects.

In Affinity Photo there is no the same way. Layer effects des not exist. Go to Studio - Effects.

I know that it seems something obvious, but for people that use a lot Affinity Designer could get lost finding a way to do the same effects to a text or/and a object in both applications.

I do not know how this effects are applied in Affinity Publisher but I hope that I buy soon the third application of the suite ;)

It's great.  It is supposed to be in a popup with the node tool in the default toolbar, but for those of us who already have customized our toolbars (or maybe even just existing users?), you may need to customize your toolbar to add it.  I kept it out separately myself rather than burying it behind another tool.

Not in front of it right now, and not sure if Designer has the extra handle at the lower-right corner of the text box like Publisher does (there are two in the lower-right corner in Publisher: the one that is in line with the others resizes the box while leaving the text the same size, the one that is hanging out resizes the text along with the box)?  If not, you might need to convert to curves, but shouldn't need to rasterize.

Either way, it looks like artistic text rather than text boxes might be a better fit for what you are doing, and that can be scaled just like other objects...

OK, I would like to transform several text boxes at once (grouped or not). And why I can not apply a effect (a drop shadow) for example to several text boxes at once?

The solution is use artistic text instead of text boxes?

...or you could use the point transform tool? (Instead of scale tool - unless there’s something you can’t achieve with it?)

    Hi, Matt!

Sorry, but I do not understand what point transform tool is. But if I select several boxes of text and I want to increase the size and shape proportionally, I have to rasterize before transforming them.

I mean, I can drag a group or several ungrouped vector objects, but I do not know how to scale several blocks or text boxes at once. Only I am able to do that if I vectorize the texts before.

In the example image the second one art board is the result of dragging text. No transform, no increased size, the text boxes are displaced.

The example 2 is the result of vectorize the text (Could I vectorize text that is grouped? I have to ungroup first) and drag the text converts to vector.

As always, thanks to you for all stuff and all staff you bring to us, the mavericks designers all around the globe!!!

  7. Hiya!

I like very much the new icons. And after a liile time I discover that the Affinity Designer's icon has a pencil inside. Clever. And the obvious obturator of a camera of the Photo's icon is what everybody sees.

And as someone says in this thread for me are a fresh air in the land of the circles.

I like Iconfactory design and the icons that the make for great applications like Coda, Transmit and so on. But this icons are a in a very different game. Not skeumorphic or realistic. The icons are an abstraction, a symbol, a sign. They must be a clue of what are they represent. As a sleeve of a book.

Or maybe you can create something very crazy like a rock with tubes and pipes or spikes, or a planet, or an "fantastique" animal. But one thing always must to be acomplished. The icons have to have personality. For me the current icons are full of it. If they were a sign or a lighthouse near the shore we could be sure that we will se them even we wolud be far away from them. Think that the dock  are a beach full of people, seats, beachballs, surf tables, sand castles and so on. Well, in a dock full of icons I can see it perfectly amonf dozens of icons.

Well played, Affinity team. Were you the creator of the icons, Neil Ladkin? Mmmmmm haw haw haw!!!

  8. Hi!

Thanks for your endless efforts, but I am missing something or it is not possible to replace a color for another?

1.You can edit, change the name, delete a color and other things, but is NOT possible to replace it for another color.

By the way, when you select a color in the palette (in this case Global color Cyan at 100%) and choose Create color chord -> Tints, Shades or Tones, never is created 9 colors in increments of 10%: 10, 20, 30% or so on...

    2. When I select a object with Cyan 100% and edit it from the color palette as a tint and I choose 40% if I choose from the contextual menu Add to Swatches from fill, when I change the global color, the tinted color created not change.

So, how I can create a tint of a global color and edit when I wanted the global color and the changes are applied to its shadings?

    3. And about the name of a color:

  9. Hello

I have several text boxes one behind another in a document.

In FreeHand I can select a text box that is behind of another and at that moment the element is active so I can edit the text and make changes.

It is not possible in Affinity Designer? I can do Option + Clic and select the element behind, but I can not edit the text. When I tried, the box text goes is deselected and the most front box goes active.

Selecting the text box via Layers panel comes to similar results.

    Thanks.
