I'm quite old school and in illustrator I wouldn't spend a long time noodling in the layer stack. But I've got my current workaround. I tend to lock layers a little less and using alt click selections to ignore the object currently under the cursor. But it's not ideal.

What I'd love to see is selection sets, on-the-fly saveable selections of objects you can recall, lock or export in one go. Now thats a power feature!

Ben - You could start another kickstarter to get designers using Linux. You can set the target in unicorns and rainbows.

I've got a super simple request just to speed things up a little

When creating a new document, the ok button should have focus, so you can create documents without having to use a mouse. Tabbing behaviour should be the same (Starting from the top) with the exception that pressing tab while on the page width input should go to page height without first going to the portrait checkbox. The checkboxes should gain focus afterward, as they are less frequently used.

Similarly for the export box, most often you'll be exporting at the same size as the document.

Tiny stuff but the nickels and cents add up :)

When working on a vector drawing with lots of elements it is usefull to lock Cmd-L those you do not want to touch right now. I got a bit struck and first thought it was bug that CMD-SHIFT-L doesn’t set those elements free again. I understand now, that you still can select the element in the Layer list and use CMD-SHIFT-L then, but to avoid scrolling through a list of several hundred elements it would be nice to have an „Unlock all“ command in the menu. I think, this should apply only to objects (elements), not to layers – what is the opinion of other highly valued foristi?

Hi I'm new to this and all forums so sorry if i break some rules as I learn.

I'm loving my experience with A.D. the speed difference between A.D. and Photoshop when saving a document is worth 10x the price of the app.

But when opening and exporting a file not having progress bars is really off putting. I find I'm usually bouncing over to Activity Monitor to see if something is happening.

I get that the hope was that things would be so fast that it didn't need them but thats not been my experience.  I am probably pushing the upper limits. For me a standard file is 1.5 gig worth of embedded documents and I'm heavy on blending modes.

So if you could add progress bars on larger longer operations that would be awesome.

I'm Ash. I'm a creative director/lead designer for a software company. Woohoo, software team represent! (is that something we do? No? OK. I'll stop.)

I was instantly impressed with affinty and I have a great deal of respect for the guys at serif for deciding to do this. I'd never expect a seasoned software company to jump on this boat. But you have! And you guys seem to be doing it all the right way too! You guys have the knowledge (and presumably resources) to create a viable alternative to Adobe. That's not only great for users but its unprecedented. Super excited to see where this goes!

    Hey Andy,

Completely understand the wait for this feature, what would be great would to get access to it on the designer beta as soon as you could. It's a feature set I don't think anyone has nailed yet, you guys could get some valuable feedback getting it into AD users hands as early as possible.
