Hi; It might be a good idea to have a 'translate suggestions' sub-forum here, in order to suggest Affinity team localization improvements or submit translation errors, not merging them with real bugs. Currently, I've noticed that in the Spanish language 'nudge' is strangely translated to 'zumbido'. I couldn't figure out what whas this preference for, until I realize that the 1px and 10px distances that appears there are the same distance you jump when using the cursor. 'Zumbido' is the sound a Bee makes... can't see why is it assigned to the nudges (wich can be translated to 'codazos' or 'empujones'). Maybe 'saltos' is a better translation. What do you think? Val

I still don't like the existence of two separated document modes, but thinking of it there's only a couple of things that annoy me a bit. One is the different background color, topic that has been discussed already. Here's the other: I open a single-paged document, with a frontpage designed, for example. Hey, let's create a smaller version alongside it... I create a new artboard and pop! the original page dissapeared, and my design is now floating in the pasteboard. I know I can previously create an object that fits my page, convert it to an artboard, drag my design to it (in most cases the design dissapears, I need to tell AD that it's related to the artboard) and then create the new one. Complex. Or work directly in artboard mode by clicking 'create artboard' when creating a new document, but as there're now some features that work in single page but does not in artboards (unclip to canvas), I might want to start with single page. Or did it by mistake. So there's the feature request (finally! thanks for reading): When in single page mode, if you create a new artboard, AD automatically converts the original page to an artboard with its content already related to it. If you can add this, I even think that the 'Create artboard' checkbox when opening new document won't be necessary anymore, as single page has its pasteboard now. Congratulations for the good work, as usual! Val

That's something I don't really understand. What are the advantages of working in single page mode? For anyone that doesn't want to use the pasteboard area, the simplest solution is not to place anything in it. Having a 'single page' mode and a 'artboard' mode is confusing. The only thing that really changes, currently, is the pasteboard color. So I think that it will by far more logical to open everything, even new documents, with the pasteboard enabled (there's no single page, it must be a single artboard), but with the option to change the background color. Anyway, I must report the same 'clip to canvas' issue: there's no such option for me in the beta. Congratulations for the work, however!

Yes, I agree that this would be useful. I'll add that the other way around can be interesting, too: have all the shapes in a group, instead of some of them as individual and others grouped. If you don't use shapes frequently this will save space in the toolbar while keeping them handy. Also, the group can update itself, not showing those shapes that are placed individually in the toolbar, and this way you can have the ones you use as individuals and the others grouped. Don't know it this is a headache to implement. V.

I don't agree with the behaviour you expect; I find logical to modify the attributes of the object selected, no matter the tool you're using. On the other hand, I must agree with the tool/panel issue. If there's a panel to perform a task, that panel must show everything related to it, with no need to look for an additional tool; that's confusing, difficult to learn, and annoying. I don't like the artboard tool also. An artboard panel should be much more interesting, and a simple 'create artboard' option in the layer menu, much easier to find. If someone likes the tool, its great that it exist, but currently we all need to have that tool in the palette, and adding more and more tools to the palette is not desirable. The eyedropper does not help in this disorganization. By instinct, I look for actions that need click, point, drag, etc in the tool palette... but eyedropper is in a panel. Not the first place I will look for it.

Thanks, MEB, that's what I thought. My question was only to figure a workaround. MBd, thanks for the interest. What I need with bleed is my design exceeding the crop marks. As in your pdf there's nothing in the borders, I cannot know if the bleeding is acting properly or not; but as MEB said, this is something yet to be implemented. Thanks again to both; Val

Well, I don't know if it is possible, but at least it doesn't work for me. There's an example: in the first document, I've created an A4 document (no artboards), drawed a circle object and a text and placed them partially outside the canvas; then I've set the document's bleeding to 10mm and exported to PDF with the bleeding box checked. In the second, I've repeated the procedure but starting with an artboard-created document (same settings, plus the 'create artboard' box checked). Bleeding appears in the first, but not in the second. prueba1.pdfprueba2.pdf

¿Is it possible to create a new document with an artboard, make the work, and then disable the artboard to get back to the simple page mode, not losing the work? The reason to this is that it might be desirable to make a design using the pasteboard feature an artboard offers, but at the end export it with bleeding, wich currently does not work with artboards. Thanks! By the way, i find the way you're thinking the artboard subject really great. Regards; Val

Don't know if it has been discussed, but just in case: regarding to artboards, I find quite confusing the fact that when a new document is created, the canvas does not act as an artboard. Wouldn't be more logical that a new document opens with a single artboard, with its own pasteboard? Currently I need two steps to start working: 1-new document, 2-create artboard. Cheers: Val

Checked that Bleed is ticked in export; bleed correctly set in documet setup. I'm attaching the .affdesign file. The problem might be mine, not understanding how this works. Thanks for your patience. V. tarxeta impec.afdesign -
bleed
Valentín Benavente replied to Valentín Benavente's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
Hello, thanks for the answer. I am aware of this; in fact, I don't care about previewing the bleed. My trouble is that I don't know how to increase the size of the image to fit the bleed applied; currently, my design fits to the artboard, but I need it to grow 3mm beyond it, leaving the crop marks 'behind' to indicate the original size. ¿Any way of doing this? Thanks again! Val
