  1. Sadly, I'm guessing our window has passed on them moving forward with anything Xara related. I'm a user since V1 as well, but I transitioned from Xara to Affinity Designer/Photo as soon as they arrived for cross OS compatibility reasons. The vibe at the time was that I wasn't alone(!), as Xara had been in decline for years, and by the time that crossover time occurred, its user base and 'impact' had shrunk enough that it just didn't make business sense for Affinity to invest the resources in providing Xara support. And it's only gotten worse with time... I dearly hope I'm wrong, as I have thousands of Xara designs that are in the archives in need of converting... and the conversion process I came up with for select important projects was time consuming and less than pleasant.
  2. Yes, as I find myself using Affinity Photo and Designer on the iPad for more and more serious and involved work, the need for better image management tools is growing in importance as well! 1) Select multiple files at once for deletion, moving, or batch work 2) Markers for which files are saved in the iCloud: it’s a total crapshoot at this point 1 to 1 mirroring in the files app with the Photos/Designer file structure would solve many of the simple file management issues: essentially passing on all the manipulation work to Files.
  3. Agreed, I love Photo, but after cleaning up my latest project with dozens of images, it’s clear it would benefit enormously from more powerful file management tools: multi-select, folder delete, sorting options, an indicator of which files have been saved to iCloud, file sizes, etc...
  4. As another looooong time Xara user, I'm thrilled by the rapid development of Affinity Designer's drawing tools. I actually purchased the Mac version previously during a stretch when my MacBook was my primary machine, specifically to have something vaguely 'Xara-like' as an alternative to Illustrator. Now that I'm back on my PC, I was delighted to see the Beta announcement. I've happily purchased the release version, and look forward to many exciting things to come!
  5. Hi everyone. My name is Jon, and I've worked professionally for the last 15 years as a graphic designer/web developer. It seems I've used just about every tool, but as a PC guy I loved and relied on Xara for most of my illustration work. (I've never been able to overcome my loathing of actually using Illustrator, regardless of how many goodies it has shoved under the hood.) For a variety of reasons, a few years back I began doing most of my work on my MacBook, and have struggled since the switch finding an OSX replacement for Xara. Strangely, I had never even heard of Affinity Designer until last week, but after installing the trial version I clicked on the purchase button within 5 minutes! I'm still in the exploration stage, but in so many ways it allows me to get my work done in a Xara-like fashion: a wonderful blend of vector and raster power, with logical, powerful node handling and even better pens and brushes. I look forward to discovering all the program has to offer in the coming months!
