  1. You could select all the content in chapter 2, cut, and paste it into the new text frame. Then delete the original text frames that are no longer needed.
  2. Here’s another option to consider. An alternative to Symbols is to place files within Affinity Designer and Photo documents. You can place one Affinity file (.afdesign, .afphoto) within another as a linked file and duplicate the linked file to create multiple instances of it. When a linked file is edited, all instances of it will be updated. To place one Affinity file in another, you can drag the file from Windows File Explorer (Finder on Mac) onto the canvas of an open Designer or Photo document. Info about placing: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Media/placeImages.html The placed files must be linked, not embedded. Info about embedding vs linking: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Media/embeddingVsLinking.html
  3. With the Move Tool selected, selecting the wine glass layer will give you a bounding box that you can drag to resize the object. To resize by entering specific dimension values, go to the Transform Panel. https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Panels/transformPanel.html
  4. I didn’t realize Brave provided that option. Good to know. OCR capabilities are becoming more common in apps these days. A couple apps I often use to extract text from images: Windows PowerToys and the iOS/iPadOS Photos app.
  5. I disable the apps as suggested, but doings so did not resolve the issue. I’ve gotten in the habit of opening the affected files with the Pages Panel and Master Pages Panel closed. As I mentioned in my previous comment, I thought closing those panels before opening files fixed the issue… then I experienced a crash with the Pages Panel and Master Pages Panel closed; but the crash didn’t occur when opening the files. I don’t know if closing the Pages Panel and Master Pages Panel before opening files has any effect, but I haven’t experienced any crashes recently when opening files.
  6. I suppose I always use the Text Styles panel out of habit. In contrast to your workflow, I rarely access the Paragraph and Character panels. Perhaps I should rethink my approach to editing text styles in Affinity. I must say, though, the thought of editing text in the Paragraph and Character panels makes me uneasy — it introduces the opportunity for errors… i.e., overriding Text Styles and neglecting to apply the edits to the Text Styles. I strive to make processes foolproof. But there are trade offs, so I’ll have a go at editing text in the Paragraph and Character panels, then applying the changes to text styles. Thanks, Mike.
  7. The UI background gray level can be changed in Settings > User Interface. If that doesn’t help, you may want to let Serif know in the Feedback forum. https://affinity.help/designer2ipad/en-US.lproj/pages/Workspace/uiAppearance.html
  8. I'm revisiting this issue. The Text Styles window is the one that I would most like to have remember the last location. As Mike mentioned, the Text Styles window is a modal dialog, so perhaps its behavior is limited by things that non-modal windows aren't. But it's not clear to me if all users are experiencing the same issue that I am — Text Styles dialog not remembering the last location — or if only some users experience this. I often go back and forth between document content and the Text Styles dialog, and it would be nice if the Text Styles dialog opened in the last location I had it positioned. I'd appreciate it if Serif or anyone could help me understand: Is this a bug or intended behavior? Does the Text Styles window always open in the middle of the screen because its a modal dialog, or is it possible for it to open in the last location it was in before being closed?
  9. I've been doing that too. A number of the pinned element in my files are in front of the first sentence in a text frame, so I have to create a blank line in front of the text, copy, then delete the blank line... in addition to needing to delete the blank line in the pasted content.
  10. I hope this issue can be addressed in the next version release. Thanks Affinity team.
  11. I have experienced the issue prior to today. I have Publisher 2.3.1 installed. I’m not sure if the issue started occurring in 2.3.1 or prior. I'm on Windows 10 22H2.
  12. This has been happening to me, too, lately… on the latest production version (I’m not using the beta).
  13. @rvsf If you decide to redefine keys on your keyboard, you may want to consider using Windows PowerToys. PowerToys has a Keyboard Manager utility that can redefine keys. I’ve never used the Keyboard Manager, but I’m assuming it would meet your needs. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/keyboard-manager
  14. Or, if the file requires the transparent rectangle, set the fill of the rectangle to none.
  15. 1. Create a Master Page in the Master Pages Panel. 2. In the Master Page, create a 3 column Text Frame. Columns are set in the Text Frame Panel. https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Text/frameText.html 3. Apply the Master Page to the appropriate pages, and enter the content in the regular pages. https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Pages/createMasterPages.html
  16. Update: Disregard my comments below. I successfully opened four files and was working in the Table Formats Panel, and Affinity Publisher crashed. And now, the app crashes when any one of the four files is opened. ### I discovered that if I close the Pages Panel and Master Pages Panel prior to opening Affinity Publisher files, the app does not crash when files are opened... at least, no crashes to this point. (I haven't tried closing only the Pages Panel and leaving the Master Pages Panel open.) If closing the the Pages Panel does, in fact, fix the issue, perhaps doing so is related to the fix that Patrick pointed out: I tried Patrick's solution a number of times with mixed results. It seemed that if I clicked several page thumbnails in the Pages Panel before the page content rendered (when the thumbnails are blank white page) I had more success in preventing the app from crashing. But I couldn't determine with certainty what worked or didn't work with this method. I'll provide an update if I experience a crash when opening files with the Pages and Master Pages panels closed.
  17. I spent quite a few hours recreating one of my troubled files from scratch in the hopes that a new file would resolve the issue. It didn't. The new file causes Affinity Publisher to crash. This issue is having a major impact on my ability to get work done. I hope Affinity is able to identify and resolve the issue soon. Affinity, if you would like me to provide any additional information, please let me know.
  18. Clicking on pages in the Pages panel doesn't prevent the crashes I'm experiencing. Bummer.
  19. Hey @Lee_T, I uploaded a file that has exhibited the behavior. The placed images in the document are linked — the 'Images Linked' folder included with my upload contains all the linked images. The file I provided, as well as the other files that have caused the issue, sometimes open without any issues and other times cause Publisher to crash. Thanks for your help. Let me know if you have any questions.
  20. I haven’t noticed anything else getting screwed up in files beyond what I described in my original post. It’s a hassle if I need to review anchor hyperlinks, but nothing more than that.
  21. Answer provided in your other post:
  22. Selections can’t be copied from an Image Layer. In order to copy the selection, rasterize the Image Layer to convert it to a Pixel Layer, then make the selection and copy/past it to a new layer.
  23. I did several searches that included ‘hyperlinks’ and ‘anchors’ with no luck. I often resort to searching these forums via Google, but didn’t this time. Sure would be nice if the forums search functionality could be improved at some point.
