Following message in a 200 pages document we have reached in publisher "Dokumentendatei beschädigt, die Datei muss nun geschlossen werden"! That´s not funny, we are working for a Magazin and we need to go to print.

Erm, you get this message from an IDML file, which is an interchange format. Why is your document not a .afpub? -
Custom text variables
joe_l replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
I am just asking myself if it could be useful a variable to be an image? Not having a use case for this, but this could be a nice addition. -
I get a different result, when I expand the stroke and a different different one after rotating the element and then expanding.

Fehler beim Verkleinern von Bildern
joe_l replied to blackstone's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Whatever I do, after typing in a value and hitting Enter gives the incorrect scaling. @R C-R All Windows apps behave in the same wrong way. -
Fehler beim Verkleinern von Bildern
joe_l replied to blackstone's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Exactly what I am seeing. To make it more interesting: Type in 50% into the first field and hit the Tab key and not the Enter key. Using the Tab key you get the wanted scaling. Irritating. -
The first dot of my 60 pt stroke is malformed while printing on a HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M751. See attached image. To my knowledge there is nothing wrong in my setup. dotted-line.afpub

Yep, here. Starting with Freehand 3.1. Serif is not yet on the finish line. Still basics are underdeveloped and still not developed, like colour handling (colour replacement, to-and-from-spot), tables are basic and form creation is still not available. BUT ... ... Serif is developing at a good pace for a v2 version. I remember Indesign in its first iterations, which were a ... 🤦♂️

I totally understand everyone's frustration with tables. At my work I need tables on a regular basis and they are a pita. Dear Serif, rethink your priorities on what basics are to a layout application, don't waste your time on fancy features anymore you drop after a while. I even made my peace with the clumsy colour organisation, but TABLES? Tables are basic. Please.

Publisher - Prints come out too small

Strange. My final idea: Export as PDF and print from your PDF reader. Or finalfinal idea: Print with a 104% scaling. -
Publisher - Prints come out too small
joe_l replied to johannesz's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
At first glance, nothing. Prints fine on a Color Laserjet. First: Change Paper Size to A4. I dislike "Defined by Driver". Second: Open Properties of the printer if there is a scaling not being 100 %. -
Not able to export .PSD File From Affinity Designer v2
joe_l replied to maxcelmishra's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
This took me a while to figure it out. The Layer Desgin seems to be the cause of your problem. After rasterising this Layer I was able to export as PSD. HTH -
Maybe this was reported before? Stumbled upon this recently, not a bug, but funny. Arrowheads behave funny, when the line has a small length. They just "walk" out of position. A creative way to do "other" arrowheads.

... coming to my limits writing a appropriate title in a foreign language. 🤦♂️ So I try to describe it as simple as possible. (Horizontal) text in a table cell is sort of dynamic on how space in a cell is occupied. If you decrease the height of a cell it stops at the last line of text and the cell height cannot be decreased any further. If you change the width of the cell, the height of the cell is automatically adjusted. With rotated text it works different. Write a single word (or more) and decrease the width of the cell. At some point the border of the cell can be moved over the rotated text. Yes, very cryptic.

Tint cell fill through context toolbar not possible
joe_l posted a topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
1. Create a table. 2. Select some cells and give them a fill through the context toolbar from Swatches. Result: Fine 3. Select some cells and give them a fill through the context toolbar from Swatches. 4. Switch to the Colour tab, pick Tint, enter a value or move the slider, hit Return / Enter. Result: No colour change.- 5 replies

Publisher 2.1.0 Fields panel changes not saved
joe_l replied to JoeSr's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I could be wrong, but to my observation you have to hit the Enter key after changing your text in the fields. Only changing to another field without hitting Enter gives no enty in the history. -
Flattening vector pdf to raster on input
joe_l replied to sebix's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Not as convenient as in PS (the Affinities preserve the vector data), but you can do it. PLACE the PDF (Passthrough) in AP and rasterise them afterwards if needed. -
As being not a native speaker I am unsure if Jeff wanted to start a cumpain for a clean language or just thought it to be funny. A lot of fun would vanish from my life without a "good" pun, so I hope ANY language will not be tidied to nonsense by moral guardians.
