hi, I have the Designer version 1.8.3 (osx sierra) and it does not work for me. When I save a palette the confirmation comes, but after a restart of the program only a program palette comes back, which I created years ago for another project. Why is it so complicated? Why don't the colors appear in the document I created them in? (as in Illustrator/Indesign etc.) In my current UI project the wrong palette is always displayed, which is annoying.

Affinity/Serif, please hire an professional ergonomist who is familiar with Interface usability and user logic. This is not a job for programmers. The thing with the page export in reverse order, because the artboards are always inserted at the top of the page, although they are then automatically inserted from left to right, is completely confusing. Sorry too many WTF moments lately with Affinity Designer. On so many levels such a great tool but then so many teething troubles which are really annoying.

Anon, you're right, I changed the profile in between when I exported the document for the style guide, because there were big problems with the export of transparencies and then the screen project was exported as CMYK (because of PDFx3), the colors were not correct (fortunately I had found a RGB print profile, but too late). So I tried to solve the problem in the document settings via the profile. If I had known (there was no message like: The color values change irrevocably to web-safe colors) which is the consequence, I would have left it, I had to reset all colors for 2 hours, because they were partially changed (not web-safe) and other colors that were web-safe remained the same. In addition, two different values within one color confused me completely (like in the screenshot). Since I have problems with the colors in Affinity Designer, I created the Global Colors first. Who of you knew that sRGB and AdobeRGB have different color values? in one document for one color? 😰 Another problem, I set the default color palette for RGB projects to system hex and for print to my custom CMYK palette, but the setting as not applied. When I open a new document a custom program color table is always active. This is annoying too.

I'm pretty confused right now. I started a pretty big UI project a few days ago and I'm pretty far along. I'm just looking at the colors that I defined as Global Colors in the color palette (annoying that sometimes the choosed color is selected and sometimes not) and don't know what's going on anymore, depending on the color palette I have DIFFERENT hex values? WHAT? which logic did i miss? I have created and named some colors and all of them have different values .... OK GOT IT, one is Hex the other RBG but why it looks so similar, very confusing 😳

Hi, I use Affinity Designer more and more often for a wide variety of projects, and currently for a second extensive interface project. Unfortunately, I can't find a "fast and effective" way to measure everything for positions that the developers need in order to efficiently convert this into code. Therefore my suggestion: Select the objects to which you need distances (top bottom left right) and the proportions (width and height) and press the right mouse button > Show Measurements in New Layer. I also wait a long time for a feature that allow me to fill the Textbox with a background color. In any Interfaceprojekt I use this to reduce the Layers for Buttons. A clear understandable structure is the key, that many people can work on one project. That include less layers as possible. Thanks, I've just tried to changed to Apple-Standart (then some Shortcuts disapears), now it works like expected, when I go back to the Serif-Standart nothing changes (the shortcuts there was here before don't come back)

oh as Walt suggest here: I take a look and just choose the Apple-Standart Shortcuts in Settings, then some Shortcuts disappears, now Designer works like expected with both Shortcuts. But if I choose Serif-Standart the deleted Shortcuts don't come back (just for the record).

If I try it here soft no problem (shift+return) hard no problem (only return) as I say in the 1.7 Version this works as expected and I have no other changes then the Designer update. hmmmm no idea, see break.mp4

nope, only control+return work as a soft return charakter. Shift+return is like only return. Tested with old 1.7 and new generated Files in 1.8.

It's a must have if Serif want call AF designer a professional tool. Imagine you have a really complex UI or so and you want to change the the wording or " to » this is a pain in the ass. Please Serif, we want it, we need it

Hi, I'am very confused after the standard shortcut for a soft paragraph (shift+return) don't work. Whaaat? and now after long time testing control+return is the new shortcut? why this? Also here in the forum the standard ist working ... see ⬆️ Maaaan this was 45 min of my life.

ohhhh after some test I found out, that now »control + enter« is the new soft paragraph 🤦‍♂️ @Serif is that on purpose?

This was the first thing I was search for like all other Professional Produkts should have, but can't find the »Show special Characters« in Affinity Designer 1.8 (I remember this is only in Publisher available) but like I said in the 1.7 version a soft paragraph worked, now not.

I'am a bit confused with the new Designer 1.8 and hard and soft paragraphs. I remember in all the Layout apps that I used I can do a hard step with the return and a soft paragraph with shift and return. Now in the 1.8 version the soft paragraph with shift+return don't work. IS there a new feature or shortcut I miss? Anyone here with the same Problem? in the Designer version 1.7 works all like expected.

I also currently struggle with this issue in the new released 1.8 Version of Designer. If I open a new document then the bleed is visible. If I open a 1.7 Designer Doc, then I have no chance to see the bleed like the tread starter (of course checked the view settings). Also testet saved the 1.7 doc with no bleed in 1.8 Designer, closed the doc, restart Designer, open the Doc, add the bleed in settings. No visible.

strange behavior in the OSX (10.12.6) App Store. After Reload no update notification under the Update Tab. In the Purchased I only can open the App (1.7.2). If I go to the Affinity Designer Details, I have the option to update (instead of the buy button) but after 10min. nothing happens. Any Idea? Edit: after an hour nothing happens

We are still in Publisher right? I don't see the point to have confusing Illustration options in a Layout program. Don't get me wrong I love addition stuff if it let my work much easier, but when is just confusing me, that's don't help. When I have a project, time is what I need and time I have with a clear structure of functions. Illustrations extra stuff I expect in Designer. In Publisher I need a fluent and fast intuitiv UI only for layouts.

Maybe I don't understand it right, but this is the feature request and suggestion area, right. I don't need interim solutions, I want to suggest a feature that maybe also help other, so I think in this area the community agree or disagree suggestions or requests. I don't think is the right way to give Serif the support of »you can do it by a complicated not good solution« I hope they also want Designer became to be a better software, so please, support feature request with constructive feedback, that they understand how many customers need it or not. Don't spoil the Software engineers, That's their job. Sorry if this sounds harsh, english is not my mother tongue

You professional advice is that I should use Publisher for ... maybe a user interface project? with Icons and other stuff that need symbols and assets. I don't think so. Also in Designer is a preview mode useful.

Thomahawk is right. Is useless to have 2 places for the transparency. in the Layer palette I want to set the transparency and in the color swatches palette I want to set the hue. Thats just logic and we already learned it in the professional programs this way.
