Thank you for clarifying! I removed it and the white border on the exported file went away.
It's a little inconvenient that you can't use a live filter layer without offering it to specific layers. Hopefully Affinity's product team looks into this!

The examples you have seen here which you say have no "adequate answer" are referring to a single while pixel border as a rounding error on placing the slice. Yours is something very different if you are getting a 16 pixel border, and it would be best to start by sharing your .afpublisher/.afdesign file with us to investigate.

Been encountering this issue for a while. Looked online and everyone else who posted about it hasn't received an adequate answer.
When I export a JPG from an artboard in Publisher (Designer using Studio Link) I occasionally get a 16-pixel-thick border that wasn't there prior to exporting (image attached).
The position and size of the artboard is in whole pixels, there are no margins set, and there are no slices because it's Publisher and there is no export persona.
This behavior didn't start until the last year or so. I can do a workaround by putting everything into an empty rectangle the size of the artboard and exporting just the rectangle.
Insight into what's causing this and whether or not it can be resolved greatly appreciated.

There is nothing stopping you recommending good products to your customers and it is a great way to keep them engaged with you. That is what my business does. You will also not be clouding the waters by being upfront and your recommendations will have more validity. Result = happier customers.
How is this in any way an answer to my question?

Our company helps YouTube channels grow, and we've created our own YouTube presence that teaches people how to do it themselves. One of the #1 things people ask about is creating thumbnails, and we've been using Affinity to create thumbnails for years.
We want to recommend Affinity Photo in our thumbnail tutorials, and provide affiliate links for the software. Is there still no affiliate program?

There's no way to change the page default color? You have to use rectangles?

I'm getting this issue as well. The REALLY messed up thing is that only one of the pages in the Publisher document has this behavior.
Attached are screenshots. The font is Montserrat, and it displays fine inside of Publisher but not in PDF format. Again, this is only for one page of the Publisher document, the OTHER page of the Publisher document displays Montserrat in PDF format just fine.
This behavior has been going on for a while, any help is much appreciated!
Thank you!

I figured out that when I use a recolor adjustment layer, put a mask on it, then use the brush to start brushing it in, the computer starts going slow.

Can you upload a video capture of your experience and/or a problematic file so that someone can replicate the issue?
What would you like me to show in a video? All my layers are there to see, along with the CPU spike in activity monitor.

I have this issue too! New 2019 iMac:
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019), 3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, 40 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB
It can run After Effects and Final Cut Pro no problem, but the second I start doing things in Affinity Publisher activity monitor shows the software taking 500%+ of CPU.
As you can see in the image, the composition I'm working on isn't exactly complex, and every single element was created in Publisher (nothing imported from Photoshop).
Any help on this is much appreciated. We've built our business on Affinity products—which work fine on our laptops—but if we can't use them on an iMac without the computer seizing up then we'll have to figure something else out.

I just found this thread after experiencing the same thing for months. I had two apps (Unclutter and Paste) that had to blacklist Affinity before the crashing stopped. Good to know what it was, now the hair won't stand up on the back of my neck every time I hit command + C!

Can you explain that further?
If you create the document using the Designer Persona, you have the option to create an artboard in the file creation dialog. You must first uncheck the option for "Default Master". (There is an issue with this in the beta that I will report, but it works in 1.8.0 (and probably 1.8.1 on Mac).
Then you can create additional artboards using the Artboard Tool.
My man. 😎🔥🙏

It's not practical using Publisher when you need to use multiple artboards of different sizes.

It's been another year, I'd like to pile onto this request

I understand this is an old thread, but I just tried to install Inkscape onto MacOS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) via Homebrew (command line) and would not recommend that route to MacOS users.
After issuing the command to install Inkscape, the computer downloaded about 50 dependencies but didn't finish with a working copy. There were about 5 errors, and I don't know enough about the process to try and troubleshoot or fix. Now I have a bunch of dependencies junking up my computer and no Inkscape.
I can whole heartily understand the OP's hesitation to use free software. Had I known I would end up filling my computer with a bunch of useless programs I would not have done this. Also, who knows if what was installed will cause issues later down the road. UGH!!!
I had the same thing happen. Don't download it on Mac!

Hey guys,
Any ETC for this? Emojis are supported in every other similar program, even more basic ones. They're also a staple of communication today.

Hey guys!
Affinity crew, congratulations on winning the 2019 app of the year from Apple! Publisher is an incredible achievement, you guys rock!
It's been about three years since this discussion of "Affinity After Effects"... any update on whether or not this is a possibility? Of all the creative apps you could make, I think this one would see new clients flocking to you in droves.
Cheers,
Cyan
