  1. Hi eighty sevens, I just purchased the RetroSupply Co 'Glitch' package; use mentioned following the instructions in your post; where can I find those instructions; thanks a bunch
  2. Yes, Cara, would be great if Affinity did their own website building package. (Maybe they'll hear us.) Fingers crossed.
  3. I will do that. So pleased with Affinity Publisher; happy to help.
  4. Yes, it was the tab, and I think you are correct about the reset fixing. Strange thing also is I wondered how the files before the reinstall would function, so I tried to open them and they crashed the app when trying to open. At least one of them did open when APublisher restored. Anyway, sharing these things in case might help. I think I am clear of this particular hurdle now. So would recommend the reinstall to anyone having various crashing problems. And as I said in previous post, I removed the app, emptied the trash, restarted the computer and download fresh from Affinity Store.
  5. Another update: Uninstalled Affinity Pub; emptied trash; restarted computer; downloaded fresh from Affinity store; installed; the interface is now different; "text styles" is now the last tab to the right where before "effects" was; but no bug now; tested multiple times; all good. No idea but maybe this will help someone else.
  6. Another update: I restarted my computer; created a new doc; very simple one page; no text and no text box; clicked text styles; down she went; crashed instantly.
  7. Hi Chris/Bad Wolf, Thanks for the kind words and yes feel free to send PDF doc to your church. I have many studies on the blog; help yourself; am happy for these things to be used. Dave Scott
  8. Do you also get this crash when accessing text styles on a new document, or only in a specific document? In new documents also. I have done this with two new documents; one very basic only one page and one paragraph. Click text styles and instantly crashes; have tried several variations; same result every time. NEW INFO ... If I click text styles with no document open then app does not crash. Now I just crashed creating a new page to test bug. Just crashed again trying to create a new page. Created new page from template with no text, no text box, click text styles; again instantly crashed. Hope this helps. I think I am going to uninstall and reinstall to see if that helps. What do you think? macOS Mojave Version 10.14.5 iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Startup Disk Macintosh HD Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB
  9. This is my first week doing my work shifting away from InDesign and using Affinity Publisher; very pleased, however, I thought I should report that it has several times closed unexpectedly; no reason I can see. It helps that ... unlike InDesign does not take forever to restart. UPDATE: Okay, I have discovered the problem. Whenever I click "text styles" AP shuts down. Whether I highlight text or do not highlight text, if I click "text styles" down she goes. I am up to date on APub and on MacOs.
  10. Not sure where to post this "encouraging word" but I have purchased and have begun using Publisher in earnest this week. My subscription with Adobe runs to August 29, so I determined that after the release of Publisher I would take the plunge. In two words ... very pleased. Not that I am surprised. I used PhotoPlus for years and only gave it up when going to Mac. I have had Designer and Photo for quite a while but Publisher was what I was really waiting for. So now I need to break away from my comfort zone, so I am doing this week's study sheets with Studio . My typical weekly work is study sheets for lessons I give on Sundays. I am a pastor of a small church in a small town in western Illinois in the U.S. If you are unfamiliar with Illinois, we are located about halfway across the country; we are about 25 miles east of the Mississippi River. I usually have a four-page, two-column, illustrated handout in color each week. I expected Affinity Publisher to be good and it has exceeded my expectations ... but again having used Serif PhotoPlus, I should not be at all surprised. Okay, now back to work as Sunday is coming. If anyone is interested in seeing my work - and I am not presuming you are - but if you are, here is a link. You can find the study sheets uploaded on our blog as PDFs. Here is last week's post: http://blog.faithfellowship.info/?p=5859
  11. Hi and my name is Dave. USA and a small town in western Illinois about 25 miles from the Mississippi River. I have just begun learning Affinity Publisher. My goal for this week is to use AP instead of InDesign for my study sheets. Initial impressions? I am impressed. My long-term goal is to move away from Adobe subscriptions. My main reason for staying with is InDesign as I illustrate and layout study sheets weekly for my teaching. I used Serif products years ago--mostly Photo Plus--so I am not surprised to see the advances with the Affinity products. I already use Affinity Photo more than PhotoShop. Affinity Designer has yet to push Illustrator aside; I really like Illustrator. I think Adobe is going to have their world stirred up even more so with Publisher. Below is my opening page first effort; a combination of Affinity Photo and Publisher. Layout will likely be four pages; 2 columns with mostly text. I have been using AP for one day and already believe that I can switch. Groovy, dude!
