Recently I had to open an Adobe account for work reasons. The biggest thing I noticed while making the move is how much thought has went into the UI of Affinity products. Simple tasks are a lot easier in Affinity and overall it's a nicer platform to work in. Affinity does lack in features, especially Vector warping, distorting, etc. Overall Affinity continues to impress and I think it wont be long until they catch up. In terms of working experience, Affinity is already ahead.

Improved Swatches Panel
Niall123492 replied to Mark Oehlschlager's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
I agree there needs to be improvements here. Sub folders for better swatch organising would be great also. -
@MEB No it's not a touch tablet. I currently have an XP Pen Deco 03. Is it possible on this model?

@MEB is it possible to rotate the canvas with a graphics tablet?

Copy paste vector to Figma

+1 I use Figma for Web/UI Design and Affinity for everything else. Having this compatibility would be great. -

Hi @Sean P Thanks for that. Can you keep me updated as to when the issue gets fixed. In the meantime I will put Montreux to one side. Thanks again for the quick response. -

Designer and Publisher crashing on export 😒
Niall123492 replied to Niall123492's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Hi @Sean P I'm trying to do the PDFLib Log but nothing seems to be happening. Maybe explain it a bit more? Also, this happening to a few different Affinity files in both Designer and Publisher. -
Here's a link to a Loom video which shows what keeps happening - https://www.loom.com/share/16629f7c44aa40b2bea5012f9a190f4c This is very frustrating as I am trying to export some brand assets. It's holding my work and client work back. Please try find a fix. I complained about this happening in Publisher a few days back, link here: We thought the problem was the font but as you can see in the above video that is not the case.

Publisher crashing when trying to export my document
Niall123492 replied to Niall123492's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Here's another Loom video for reference on what is happening - https://www.loom.com/share/16629f7c44aa40b2bea5012f9a190f4c So, the first document containing all the fonts exported in Designer as expected. Second in Designer containing the same fonts crashed. I did manage to export that same document earlier through the export persona as seen in the PDF. The third Publisher document also crashed as was happening the other day, this is a different document. -
Publisher crashing when trying to export my document
Niall123492 replied to Niall123492's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
@Jon P I don't think the problem is the font. It seems to be a combination of the font, text styles and grids. I'm not sure. It's very frustrating as I am trying to create some branded documents and Publisher keeps crashing as I try and export. I may have to move to Figma to finish some of these. -

@Jon P The file has exported with a different font - Poppins (Google Font) Have you got any idea why my other font is not working? -
Publisher crashing when trying to export my document
Niall123492 replied to Niall123492's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
@Jon P It's not letting me get to the settings stage, once I click export the app crashes. I linked a Loom video above, here's the link again - https://www.loom.com/share/67cc68d1430d4f4b873c1aab92d309cd I will try with a different font now, I'm nearly sure I have exported with this font before. Also, in the Designer file I am uploading, the problem only seems to be with Artboard 11. Everything else seems to be exporting fine. -

Hi @Jon P I just tried this in the latest Beta version and again the app has crashed. I uploaded the file as you asked. I am also experiencing this in a Designer file, would you like me to upload that one? -

This is also happening to a certain document in Designer also. Not the same document as Publisher. -
Hi everyone, I just thought I would create a post to express my excitement for the upcoming 1.9 updates. 🤯 I have been using the Affinity suite since 2017, and in the past few years I have been using it for my freelance brand identity work. I think the tools are great, yes they do have their limitations and are sometimes frustrating as you have to find workarounds to achieve certain things. However, overall I have enjoyed working with the Affinity suite and things are only getting better. Some great features and fixes are being added with this update. A big thanks to the team working behind the scenes to keep the Affinity suite moving forward. 🙌
