Advice on defining effects as a style or similar.

Recommended Posts

So I have a number of items representing a process -- boxes , circles and lines.
They are in different colours and line weights. They are layered so that sub-processes can be moved around.

For a sales type presentation, we add shadows and other effects.
How can we 'remember' ( like a style ) the effects only  to apply to newly added items.

I cannot create a normal style as that will remember the colour - and cannot use a layer style as the text is managed in the layers as well.

Any ideas?

I don't think there's a way for you to specifically save a set of fx settings.

However, you can select an object and copy it, then select another object, and then use Edit > Paste FX to transfer just the fx to that other object. Note that they are not transferred precisely, though.I think that the fx, when reapplied, are dependent the size of the objects involved.

You could also save an object with fx applied as an Asset, to make them more easily available in other projects.
