Crash when exporting as PDF

Hi,

Affinity Publisher, 1.7.2, OSX Mojave, iMac retina 5k

Publisher crashes when exporting as PDF, either already in the export dialog after a few seconds or at the latest at export itself, if PDF-X 1a/X-3/X-4 is not(!) selected as PDF format.
Reproducible, every time.

I tried PDF 1.4 instead of PDF 1.7 compatibility in export for Web, the same result. Only with PDF-X the export works (fortunately).

The document is a 56-page brochure, 60-70 MB. I have several older versions of the document, the first version doesn't have the error, all later versions crash after a few seconds.

Best Thomas

@zeitformT Can you upload the problem file here, ensuring to embed the images (or provide them so I can re-link them if need be) and I'll have a look at reproducing it here

@Sean Hochdorf Like garrett, that file exports fine for me, can you re-upload it with the images embedded, or provide the source images? You can use the above link if you'd like to keep it private.

Thanks!

@Jon P Sorry about the late answer, I took a little break. Problem still exists, even with the new v1.7.3. I have created a version with embedded images, also with that the same problem. File contains photos and names, can I send it to you via mail?

Thanks Thomas,

I can reproduce it here, it seems to be because of one of the text frames on page 29 (for the top right doctor). If you select this frame the app locks up. It seems to have become corrupt.

I've logged it so the developers can take a look into it, but any idea if anything different was done when creating this frame?

If you need to get an export out you will likely need to re-build this page, I've deleted it and it exports fine.

Hi Jon,

yes, can reproduce the crash. But I cannot remember, what I did with this one. The template was an Indesign document that I had to import as a PDF. Then I created new master pages and filled the individual pages successively with new content. With many pages and how it looks with this one too, I then adjusted the length of the frames (edit page separately).

Since I have always saved new versions back then, I could search in the older ones for this frame (the older versions without the frame does not cause any problems). But I found something even more interesting: With an older version I also deleted the page with the corrupted frame and it still crashed. I kept searching (clicking on the text frame) and actually found another one that produces the same error. In later versions this frame is no longer present, so I could edit it for that time. I also put the document in the dropbox. It is page 37 in the new upload, there the empty  text frame at the bottom right. Maybe it will help you to find the error.
