andmocychmen Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I’m new to Affinity Designer and used to working with Inkscape. Concerning notes and curves, there is a tool in Inkscape to open or close a curve which I cannot find on Affinity Designer. Where can I find it? Or are there different ways of achieving the same result? Specifically I’m trying to merge the three nodes highlighted in blue here and get rid of the loop that I crossed out in red: Quote
DM1 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 In AD when you select. Curve and choose the node tool you will see a context menu at bottom of screen. Some menus have sub menus (accessed via little white triangle at sides of menu). I have added a link to the PDF version of the Help file. It is easier to access while working than the built in version and is fully searchable. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). andmocychmen Posted July 21, 2019 Author Posted July 21, 2019 Ok, I have access to this context menu by using the tool. However I am not able to see the tool that allows me to open or close the curve. So basically I want to (a) select a segment between two nodes and open that segment so and then I want to (b) merge both open ends into a single node. My question to here is How do I execute (a)? I cannot find a corresponding tool. Quote

Create a new node where you want to open the segment, and then tap the ‘Break’ icon (immediately to the right of the ‘Delete’ trash can on the Context toolbar). DM1 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 It’s a bit confusing at the moment as the devs have changed gestures but not updated Documentation. You need to select a node and tap break. Same for both objects. Then you need to select two nodes (Gestures) and tap join. Then select other two and join or close. 5D75FAB5-37A6-4F75-A003-2DF1E0502BC9.MP4 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
