How does High pass filter work on Ipad ?

Hi everyone,

 

I'm trying to use the "high filter pass sharpening" on AP for Ipad.

So I select it in the filters

I go in the layers and select "hard mix"or "overlay" but the image stays grey…

Duplicate the image layer and apply the filter to the duplicate layer. When you choose a layer blend mode, it will blend between the new grey layer and the original coloured layer.

By the way, I think you meant “hard light”, not “hard mix”!

Must I fusion the two layers after ?

I tried other ways than "overlay" but this one is the only one which seems to display a correct picture, is that normal ?

 

(I said "hard mix" because that is the name in the french app.)

Can you tell me what is the différence between "blur/fuzzy/unsharp mask" and "high filter pass" to sharp a picture ?

If you turn off the other layers (leaving the photo and filter layers visible) and then do a merge visible, it will create a new layer containing the sharpened effect. The old layers will remain enabling you to make further changes should that be required.

Linear Light also works well.
