Pattern Suppression Filter - does not work in Photo

Recommended Posts

I have just tried the Pattern Suppression Filter V2.5 from Jonas M. Rogne (Chain), Ronald Chambers (Ronc) and Francesco Pierfederici.

I installed it by copying the .dll into Photo's .dll folder and using Edit > Preferences > Photoshop Plugins to tell Photo about it, then re-starting.

I loaded an image and selected Filters > Pattern Suppressor and it offered the installed list of filers (.8bf files).. I clicked on the first one then ... nothing. Photo just hung.

I have now uninstalled it.

Conclusion: Pattern Suppressor (a Photoshop Plugin) does not work with Affinity Photo.

Looks like it also requires an action (.atn file) to be installed so that's a plugin killer right there.

You do know there is a filter for this type of thing already in Affinity Photo called FFT Denoise? Filters > Noise > FFT Denoise

There was an action file included in the zip file, but it was to facilitate installation.

Yes, I did know about FFT  Denoise. I was interested to see if Pattern Suppressor was any better.
