I have a font that I use for my business logo. When I use it in Affinity Designer it doesn't type the same way as it does in other programs. The first image is the correct way. The second image is how it types in Designer. I have reset fonts in preferences. I have deleted font from computer and reinstalled. I have downloaded the font from a different source and tried that. Any help would be appreciated.

The second example looks like the OpenType Contextual Alternates (calt) feature has replaced some characters.
Contextual Alternates (calt) is On by default  (per OpenType standards).
So highlight the text and use the Typography panel to disable calt.
That will probably get you back the original characters.

My guess is the other apps you were using do not support OpenType.

Could also be ligatures or another OpenType feature, but it is probably calt.
We can look inside the font file and see what is going on if you can provide the font.

Sorry for the delay. I haven't had access to my computer. The font is Geotica 2012. I tried downloads from two different sources with not difference. Also, I tried the calt but it wasn't on and it didn't change it. Thanks for the advice though! Still couldn't get it to work.

The font, Geotica 2012, is using the OpenType features Initial Forms (init) and Terminal Forms (fina) to automatically change the first and last characters in the word.
The OpenType documentation was changed in 2016 to clarify that these features are supposed to be only for certain non-Latin scripts.
But you will find Latin fonts like this one (from 2012) which use these features.
These features are supposed to be On by default so it is a bit odd how they are used here.

In the Typography panel you will find these in the Positional Alternate section.
Here is the default setting (which you are experiencing):

When you disable these you will have your original text.

Note: these are mentioned in the font specimen PDF on page 8 under OpenType Features.

Thanks for showing me another Latin font I can use to demonstrate init and fina. :D

I added a comment to an existing thread on this topic.  I am running Affinity Publisher 1.8.3 on Windows and do not have that useful Positional Alternate section in my Typography panel.  The result is illegible text and a useless font because it is so well-supplied with initial form glyphs and I have no way to suppress them.

[ADDED IN EDIT] When I turn on the "Hide irrelevant features" checkbox in the Typography panel, it exposes the Positional Alternate section, which offers the ability to suppress Initial Forms.  So I am going to submit a bug report about "hide" meaning "show".
