AlanT
The very first thing I tried to do with Affinity Publisher is something that CorelDraw had trouble with, but PagePlus X9 did well enough. I tried to open a PDF created with the music layout software Finale and Adobe Acrobat distiller. I've attached the file, which opens perfectly in Adobe Acrobat Reader. I understand the lyric font not showing up correctly, as that is not installed on my system, however, I have the music font installed on my system, but it shows up as squares. Screen grab is also attached. I have tested a few of these files, and have the same problem with all of them. Previously, I could open the files in PagePlus X9 (importing text as curves), resave them without any changes, and they would work in CorelDraw. Obviously, I couldn't edit text as text, but I was able to work with the content as needed to produce a songbook. Obviously, it would be ideal to be able to keep text as text when opening these files, but at least having an option to convert them to curves would be "good enough". I fully expect to love Affinity Designer, and will continue using PagePlus to convert these PDFs as before until a fix may be found. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. Thanks for creating such great software! - Alan God Alone - FINAL.pdf
MtnArch
Alan - Downloaded your PDF and opened it up with APub 1.7.1.404 without a problem (I too have Finale, V26.1.0.397). I'm attaching my saved out APub file - does opening my file on your box bring in the notes? Alan (too!) God Alone - FINAL.afpub
AlanT
Thanks for looking into this with me. Unfortunately, opening your file gives me the same result. Attached is a screenshot showing the Maestro font as installed on my system. Is there another font that also needs to be installed? Seems to me that even if the font isn't installed, I should be able to see the characters that are in the PDF, even if I can't add to the set of what is embedded. AlanT
Realized the screenshot of the new file looked too similar to the original screenshot, so I took a new one to include more of the screen.
Staff Jon P Posted June 21, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 21, 2019 We have a similar issue logged with some PDF's that were created from MuseScore using a Maestro font that aren't importing correctly, so this is something we are aware of and can hopefully improve in the future. Judging by MtnArch's comment it sounds like you two might have different versions of the Maestro font?
