  1. I also appreciate you taking the time to answer, although for some reason, the video doesn't play for me. it looks like it loads, then it jumps from beginning to end without playing.
  2. Looks like this can be made to work. If nothing else, I could extract the auto-index and reformat as separate indices. Thanks for the suggestion!
  3. Thanks, Mike! I'll look into that. The biggest question I have at the moment (and fairly easy to test, I guess), is whether intervening bullet lists would introduce strange interactions with the hymn numbering. Not that I see where this would come up in this project, but just something to be aware of for future projects.
  4. Hello, (This got posted to the wrong forum earlier) I have a client asking about having a hymnal laid out, and I want to check if anyone has any suggestions for doing this type of project. The main thing I'd like to know is whether there are any tools for automatically numbering the hymns within the book (completely separate from page numbers), and for creating multiple indices for topics, title, etc. This is of particular interest in case they decide to change the order after the initial layout, as the hymn numbers and page numbers would change throughout the book, and it would take a significant amount of time to update 300+ pages if even ONE hymn gets moved. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
  5. Just realized this went to the wrong forum topic, and can't find a way to delete or move it. If a moderator can move this to the right place, that would be great!

  7. Realized the screenshot of the new file looked too similar to the original screenshot, so I took a new one to include more of the screen.
  8. Thanks for looking into this with me. Unfortunately, opening your file gives me the same result. Attached is a screenshot showing the Maestro font as installed on my system. Is there another font that also needs to be installed? Seems to me that even if the font isn't installed, I should be able to see the characters that are in the PDF, even if I can't add to the set of what is embedded.
  9. The very first thing I tried to do with Affinity Publisher is something that CorelDraw had trouble with, but PagePlus X9 did well enough. I tried to open a PDF created with the music layout software Finale and Adobe Acrobat distiller. I've attached the file, which opens perfectly in Adobe Acrobat Reader. I understand the lyric font not showing up correctly, as that is not installed on my system, however, I have the music font installed on my system, but it shows up as squares. Screen grab is also attached. I have tested a few of these files, and have the same problem with all of them. Previously, I could open the files in PagePlus X9 (importing text as curves), resave them without any changes, and they would work in CorelDraw. Obviously, I couldn't edit text as text, but I was able to work with the content as needed to produce a songbook. Obviously, it would be ideal to be able to keep text as text when opening these files, but at least having an option to convert them to curves would be "good enough". I fully expect to love Affinity Designer, and will continue using PagePlus to convert these PDFs as before until a fix may be found. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. Thanks for creating such great software! - Alan God Alone - FINAL.pdf
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. Exporting to PDF results in the date line not showing up at all. I'm starting to think this may be an issue with the font, as your printout shows both fonts differently than I see on my end. Testing this in CorelDraw, the date line shows up differently, indicating that the 2 programs handle that font differently, even on the same computer. Too bad, as I really like how it shows up in Affinity Designer. The original font was a Type1 font, and after running a few test prints, it does seem that the period comes up only with Type1 fonts, but not with all of them. TrueType and OpenType fonts seem to be unaffected, at least in the limited testing I just did. Might be a bug in the program related to Type1 fonts.
  11. Hello all, In my first time using Affinity Designer, I'm doing a very simple document of text on a photo. Just 2 lines, with names on one line and a date on the 2nd. Everything looks fine on screen, yet when I print this document, a period is added at the end of the date. I've attached the file in case this is needed to determine what the problem might be. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as I could not find any settings that would account for this, nor has any editing of the text lines fixed the issue for me. Thanks. - Alan Jessica_Wedding_Party.afdesign
