User1
Hello, I have a question regarding the use of the Duplicate Selection Tool in combination with a Clipboard Image. Normal and expected behaviour: 1. Open an Image 2. Select an Area with Marquee Tool 3. Duplicate Selection -> New Layer with the selected Area only Using a Clipboard Image: 1. New from Clipboard [OR] New and Paste Clipboard 2. Select an Area with Marquee Tool 3. Duplicate Selection -> New Layer with the whole Image (Selection is ignored) Same problem with Copy and Paste of a selected Area. Seems like a bug. Or is this behaviour intended? If so, why? Staff Chris B Posted June 18, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 18, 2019 Hi User1, Make sure you are making the selection on a pixel layer and not on an image layer. For example, if you use the Stock Panel and drag an image to the canvas, it will be an image layer and the selection will be ignored—you have to rasterise it first. It sounds like you may be opening a JPEG in the first steps but an image layer in the second steps. User1
Sorry, my fault. I didn't recognize that the Screenshoot from Clipboard is an Image Layer and not a Pixel Layer. Thank you! Chris B
