In Affinity Designer, you can create a rectangle snapped to the document edges, move that layer to the bottom of the layer stack, & fill it with whatever color you want.

Alternately, if you are working with artboards, you can select each of them in the layers Panel & set their fill color individually.

Hi mikstart,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
What tool are you using exactly in Affinity Photo (mouse over the tool a few seconds and its name will be displayed in a tooltip)? If you are using Designer and want to fill the background the same way, switch to Pixel Persona (the second icon on the top left of the interface), select the Flood Fill Tool (the icon looks like a paint bucket), select a colour in the Colour panel and click on the canvas. Affinity Designer should create a pixel layer automatically for you and fill it with the colour you have chosen. When working with raster tools in Pixel Persona make sure you have (or create) a pixel layer selected. You can create it clicking the icon in the middle on the group of icons on the right on the bottom of the Layers panel.

Thanks to it, but you first have to know that you have to go on persona in order to change the background color, at Affinity Photo you can start immediately, so it would be good if you apply this function in both programs Photo and Design because you should have the basic functions  The two programs did not have to relearn . Thanks for Respone

Hi Claudia,
Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer are different programs designed for different tasks - Affinity Designer is a hybrid raster/vector design and illustration application, while Affinity Photo is a RAW developer/converter and photo editing app. The personas and focus of each app reflect these differences: while in Designer the vector tools (Vector Persona) are where you will be spending more time and the Pixel Persona mostly complements it (for basic photo/image editing and painting with brushes/raster tools etc), in Affinity Photo the raster tools take centre stage as so are accessible right from the beginning when you open the app (likewise less relevant design/vector features are more limited in Photo or not available at all). We are trying to keep each app as much focused on its area/task as possible thus the differences in workflow.
