I purchased Photo from here. I come back to download the 1.7 update from an email message link.
It downloads fine.

I start the update... a second or two later it indicates it failed without any error message or further guidance.
I come back to get some help or perhaps download it again... I find it is a problem child...
AND
also cannot find any link to download the update again.
Wait a minute... I just tried it again to see if I have any additional information...
It will not run because it has problems with 64-bit version of Windows...
Is there a download link for 64-bit Windows...?
* * *
I have logged in and can see my purchase in my account log.
Where exactly is the Download Photo Update button located?
For 64-bit versions...?

All of the Affinity applications require 64-bit OSes.

Can you provide more details about the version of Windows that you're running? For example, from Windows Settings (under System, then About) I can see that I'm running version 1809, build 17763.503 on my desktop system.

It might also help to reboot Windows before you do the install, and if that still fails to right-click on the installer file and choose Run as Administrator.

Thanks Walt...
Let me check them out...
I just downloaded the update again from my own Order History page...
I'd cross my fingers on this, but it's hard to type that way.
Thanks again...

Here's the result of my last attempt a few minutes ago...  FAILED ...
* * *
Attempt procedure:
I shut down the computer for a few minutes.
Booted up;  went directly to the update file; started fine... passed the "Preparing" stage which really had me thrilled...
A few seconds later in the Preparing stage... FAILED message appears...

Thanks for the info. Sorry it's still not working.

If you press and hold the Windows key, then press R, a "Run" box should open. In that box, type: %temp%\AffinitySetup

In the File Explorer window that opens you should see some directories. Each corresponds to an installation of one of the Affinity products. Pick the one with the date/time that matches a failed installation, and open it. Inside are two files: Setup.log and SetupUI.log which should provide more information about what went wrong. Sometimes searching for the word Error will get you to the right spot, but not always.

Thanks Walt,
I'll go hunt those rascals down...
(grin)
Looks like I'm searching the temp folder for some clues about what the heck went wrong...  (grin)

Setup Log was fairly straight-forward...
[ Trying to start process: C:\Users\earlj\AppData\Local\Temp\AffinitySetup\f8711d73-87e5-11e9-87aa-9cb6d01fd6e4\SetupUI.exe /log=true
  Succeeded: 1
Waiting for process to finish...
  Exit code: 0
]
The SetupUI is attached below...
ending with...
[ +Info: === Logging stopped: 05-Jun-19  19:02:42 ===
+Setting result page message: Setup failed
+Switching to page: Result
+Operation finished
+Main window close requested
]

And with all my computer user hours over the years, (beginning with a TRS-80 back in the day) that's about the ONLY piece of the whole thing I understand...
LOL

Thanks again for any help you might provide.

Well, well, well...
it appears that the update isn't going so well... and I'm not the only one with problems... (sigh)
I'll hold out a bit longer on the update, and we can see what happens in a couple of days...

Another user here trying to download and run the update.

I have Windows 10 HOme, version 1803, build 171.34.765

Don't find any link or prompt when I boot up version 1.6.5.123 of Photo.

Interesting that the email I received about 1.7 does NOT have an upgrade link.

Comments?
