Auto-resize Slices to canvas dimensions

Recommended Posts

I'm an animator and I use Affinity Designer to create graphic elements that are then animated using video editing software.

I need to create and export (usually hundreds) of layers, and each slice has to be the size of the original canvas. Manually clicking on each slice and resizing to full canvas size is a real pain. I'd love to be able to select all of my slices and hit a button that auto-resizes to whatever the canvas dimensions are, if that makes sense. That way, if my Affinity canvas is in 1080P, I can import all of the exported PNG layers into a 1080P video timeline and everything stays exactly in place :)

Since Slices are already resizable and the document's canvas is known, I would expect an auto-resize button to be somewhat simple to implement.

Please add this feature as it would make Affinity Designer an amazing companion for 2D animation projects!

I'd like to follow up to this.

I have 20 layers but I only want to slice the active canvas size, not the overspilling art.

However I see no quick /intuitive way to resize all slices at once to fit the current canvas.

At present I have to either 1) manually create each slice and size it properly or 2) create all slices and manually go to transform panel and resize manually and only then export.

Revert to Auto Sized button makes the slice size back to original giant slice including all, is there not a Resize to Canvas button???

Any thoughts?

I would like to see this too. I switched to Affinity products as I couldn't warrant the subscription fees with the adobe products. often despite exporting as a .psd, a lot of my software Davinci Resolve for example will not recognise it as a .psd with layers and appears as a flattened image. The work around for me is export layers as a tiff etc, however it takes me hours sometimes to resize all layers to document size. I can't believe this isn't possible....
