I know AP quite well, but i´m new to painting/tablets...

I just got a (very small) XP-Pen (Star G430) - i´m quite happy with that size and generally function.

1.

I have "misbehavior" with the pressure-sensititity - i do not know, it seems that it dosnt matter how i set the curve on the driver.... or it works sooo subtle , i cannot register any difference.

On the other hand "the curves" in AP  for eg. pressure2size works really remarkable: A more dramatic. An "anti-exponential" curves will reacts faster than an linear and much more faster than an "exponential" curve!  But i would have to set this for EACH brush by hand individual, no way in AP "keep the current size, dynamics, flow... for ALL brushes until i say: go back to its stored values)....

With a HW wich would set its own "logarithm/exponential" curves, that problem could be good feathered... but as said, either i´m to thumb or the XP-Pen-driver does not really work:  Both extrem settings... seems not really make a difference. Is this a HW/driver-bug?

2.

Maybe in PS the driver would DISPLAY on main-screen if brush or eraser is selected... I like such "remember_gimmicks"... I do not know, maybe my personal AP-shortcuts does not allow this. I can switch with 2 times "B" between brush/eraser and the pen will also do, but it will not DISPLAY, if i try to write something in the field like brush / eraser... it will not shown. Or if i set the "mosue-button" to eg. pipette... or just ALT... it will work, but not displayed.

3.

I have really hard problems to eg. select a brush or layer.... with that pen. "Mouseover" works well, but then the "normal click" needs often some trys. Instead "normal click" i often nest this layer into another one or move the brush..... I have problems with the normal (left)-"click" - is this a ask of pressure on exactly the same point????

4.

How do hold such pens? Wich finger do you use for which button? How long does it take that i get a better feel of it? I can write my signatur much better than just a simple circle or square....???? I do not expect to work as precisse as with a mouse (for normal stunts), but how long would you say does it take to get a "normal" feel - in the moment: for drawing i really like it, but even for simpelst "mouse-actions" i switch back to mouse...

Hi Polygonius,

I'm not sure i can of much help here, as i don't have access to the actual device or drivers to see what settings you can configure. I can certainly test this out when i have access to our other branded tablets on Monday and report back.  But someone else who has an XP pen may answer before then, i would assume the driver settings and pressure settings are common across the device.  As for how long it take to get used to using a tablet, thats a tough one.  It took me a while, i'd say a good couple of months of everyday use.  Just stick at it you'll soon pick up the workflow.

I have an XP-Pen Artist 12 see image below for how I have the pressure curve set and where the onscreen display can be disabled, obviously unchecking it will display the selection prompts.
