Using Media Browser

Hello,

I'm trying to use Media Browser-I can't open any folders to look through images.  I thought I could do that weeks ago but now unable..  Any suggestions appreciated.

The Media Browser is an Apple specific shared ressource here, does the Apple Media Browser work actually in/for other tools under your High Sierra (see this)?

However, the sidebar Media > Photos item in the Open dialog of the Mac versions is still supported, which allows browsing through the Apple Photos, iPhoto, Photo Booth, & Aperture libraries. Unfortunately, that does not provide access to other folders like the 1.6.x Media Browser does. I am not exactly sure why they decided to remove the View > Media Browser item from the 1.7 Mac apps, but IIRC they said somewhere in one of the beta forums that was intentional.

I am fairly sure that 1.6 item is dependent on the third party iMedia Browser framework from Karelia Software -- at least it is listed on the Copyrights page. From what I can tell, the last version of that framework was released in 2011. Some time after that the stand alone version was removed from the Mac App Store & is not available as a direct download from the Karelia site. There is also this at https://code.google.com/archive/p/imedia/ which may explain why it was removed from 1.7:

Thanks v_kyr for the suggestion.  Took a look at the link but I actually have moved away from iPhoto and now Photos and just have images in folders on my Mac.  Have been able to access them easily using other 3rd party software for Nikon and others.  Also-I don't use iCloud as I have too many images.  Maybe those aren't the best decisions but it seems easier to me.  

 

to RC-R.  Thanks, I'm guessing Affinity Photo 1.7 is not out yet?
