bgeal Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I'm trying to create numbered lists in a two-column table. I want the column 1 rows to number 1 to 5 and the same for the column 2 rows as in the top table in the image below. I apply the numbered list style to rows 1-5 in column 1 and get the desired result. When I apply the numbered list to rows 1-5 in column to the numbering goes across the columns as in the bottom table in the image below. I have tried specifying what number to start with in each cell but this is ignored. I have also tried duplicating the numbered list style and giving it a different name and applying this to column 2, again with no effect. Is there any way to stop the numbering going across columns? I achieved the top table result by using two tables and putting them together, but this is less than optimal.
fde101 Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Yeah, the second one seems like it will have some use cases (an interesting case was demonstrated on another thread for numbering the days in calendars), but I would expect it to be the less common option. I would think you would want the numbering to advance with rows first in most cases.
carl123 Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 In the Paragraph Studio, in the Bullets and Numbering section give each Numbered list you create a unique name fde101 1 To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
bgeal Posted November 19, 2018 Author Posted November 19, 2018 Many thanks. That worked as long as you also select restart numbering below current level.
