Arnaldo
Hello When painting white on a mask in order to erase part of a picture, it all works fine, but, a fine edge is left like on the sample. It's like the hardness isn't set on 100%, but it is. What is wrong? Very thankful for guidance. Best, Arnaldo
v_kyr
Hello and welcome to the forum! Did you checked before if the opacity setting was set on 100% for the used brush? This problem to me seems like a bug, because before, in some project it's been all ok.
carl123
Painting white on a mask would not normally erase part of a picture, you would normally use a black brush on the mask to do that. Are you sure you have just the mask layer selected in the layers panel and not the pixel/background layer? If you still cant fix it, upload a screenshot showing the brush settings and the layers panel showing the mask layer selected Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Arnaldo
Hi again and thanks for staying in touch. Uploaded a clip from my screen. As you see, now as I open the same picture again, adding a mask and brushing black and white - it's even worse than before, the "black" is grey and transparent. Painting with white again doesn't restore completely. I found a similar troubleshooting on the forum here: It seems that the only solution was to reinstall Affinity... ?? affinity mask.mov

Arnaldo
8 minutes ago, >|< said: You might want to retest that. You have wet edges enabled in your video and the result you're getting is exactly the result I get if wet edges is enabled. You're right @>|< That was the problem in the setting in the video. Thank you for insisting. Further, I think the original problem with the grey edges was caused by something else. I am sure I had tried the "Wet Edges" setting then, on and off lots of times, without solving the problem.. But now I tried the "Reset brushes" in the Preferences, and all works fine. If the problem with the edges return I will try that. Thank you all for assisting! And Affinity Photo is very useful and nice to work with, for sure.
