jtlapp
I am unable to smooth the curve by the starting node of a path. No matter how I convert the point, and no matter whether I add a new point hoping to make it smooth, I get a straight line from the starting node to the first point on the path. I was unable to get a screenshot because pressing the key to give me a screen shot changes the path features displayed. So instead I'm attaching a cell phone shot. How do I produce a rounded curve between the two squares shown in this figure? Thanks!
jtlapp
Okay, problem fixed. I noticed that I couldn't add a point to the path between the red square and the circle, so I clicked the red square and then clicked and dragged on the circle. That rounded the path between the two. firstdefence
Using the node tool you can click on the curve between the nodes and bend that curve, this will produce handles on the nodes so the you can adjust the curve. That is because it was an "open" curve -- there was no path segment connecting its beginning & ending nodes. The red node (whatever its shape) is the end node of the curve, so with it selected & then clicking & dragging on the beginning node (for you the round one at the other end of the curve) with the Pen Tool, that closed the curve by creating the missing path segment connecting the beginning & ending nodes. Another way to do the same thing that works even when no node is selected & works with both the Pen & Node tools is to click on the Close Curve Action button in the context menubar. jtlapp
Excellent! Thanks for the explanation. I'll have to remember this next time I encounter this behavior.
