Help!!! Getting Inverse Vignetting after imported Raw File to Affinity

Recommended Posts

Hi Affinity,

I'm a new user to Affinity. I took some pics using Sony A6000 with Kit Lens.
All I shot was RAW and I do not see reverse vignetting in my camera viewer and also on Mac Photo Viewer.
See my screenshots.

When I open the RAW image on Affinity, it is giving me white vignetting at the corners for all my pictures.
I really need help on this. I do not want my picture to be cropped.

Your photos have a strong vignetting in their corners.
If you turn off autocorrection of the lens defects in the Assistant, it is really pronounced (especially in the upper/light corners, in the lower/dark corners it will disappear).

If you automatically correct lens defects when develop RAW, it will be removed at all corners - the lightening at the top corners will disappear, but will be outlined in the lower/dark corners.
Therefore, when develop, it is necessary to turn off the automatic correction, and vignetting remove manually (in the lower corners it must be masked).

P.S. on my photo without correction, it can be seen that it is significantly larger - without cut edges.

Hi Liaw Wui Khen Kevin and Welcome to the Forums,

This is to be expected.  Photo's raw engine interpolates edge pixels rather than cropping them off, which is what most cameras and other software packages do, which means we can load a bit more data.

If you are running Affinity on a Mac, then you can switch to the Core Image RAW which will open the image without the extra data. To do this open a RAW file open, you can click the suit/tuxedo icon to open the Assistant. On this dialog, you can then change RAW Engine from Serif Labs to Apple (Core Image RAW).  Then close and reopen the RAW file.  This does only apply to Macs as the Apple Core Image RAW engine isn't available on Windows.
