Guest Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I have created a new A4 Photo document. Then using the Rectangle Marquee Tool selected some of the document. I then hoped to go to Edit > Fill but it is greyed out. So then I've used the Bucket Fill tool, clicked inside the selection, and nothing happens. I've set the tolerance to 100%, changed the colours in the Colour window and still nothing. I'm surprised that this isn't mega easy. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted October 9, 2018 Staff Posted October 9, 2018 That workflow should work, do you have the correct layer selected before making the marquee selection? If it still isn't working, can you do a screen recoding, showing the issue. Quote
Guest Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Urm... there doesn't seem to be a layer, so I presume it is the 'background' layer. Do I have to make a layer before I can do anything? Quote
Staff MEB Posted October 9, 2018 Staff Posted October 9, 2018 Hi Markeeee, Yes, there must be a layer for you to fill with colour otherwise the command isn't available. Click the Add Pixel Layer icon on the left of the trash icon on the bottom right of the Layer's panel. You can then perform the steps you described in your first post. Guest Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I like the way there is a live preview of the colour before hitting Apply Quote
Polygonius Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 The easiest way is maybe: New layer and shift+F5 - then selfdefined and you can switch the color. FlynnAffinity 1 Quote OSX 12.5 / iMac Retina 27" / Radeon Pro 580X / Metall: on! --- WWG1WGA WW!

Thank you! That is easy to remember. Still trying to unlearn Photoshop and grok the Affinity way of doing things. Quote
