Aligning 2 or more selected objects on page

Recommended Posts

Thanks, Dan, but that's not what I meant. Perhaps I could've been clearer...

I want to align that selected group of objects to the page boundaries, without having to group, (command g), it first. You know center the selected objects on the page, etc., (not to each other).

My apologies, do you mean like this?

If not, then I'm not entirely sure what you mean, as the alignment options shown in my gif above are set to Spread rather than Selection Boundaries, which is the default.

Please note, my objects are not grouped, I simply have selected all of them using a marquee selection :)

You don't have to "group" them (that has a specific meaning involving the Layers panel) but I think you do have to "select" them by drawing a marquee around then with the Move tool. Then you can Distribute them horizontally. You may have the icon for that on your toolbar. If not it's available via one of the menu items (but I'm away from my computer so I'm not sure which one).

Can't you just group them (Ctrl + G) then ungroup them after aligning (Shift + Ctrl + G) ?

But anyway, there is no need to do anything like that if you just want to align them to the centre of the page. If snapping is on, select them all and you will get the centre of page, green snapping guide (as shown).

Hello warbler,

With snapping enabled, select the objects and move them so that the center of the set hangs in the center of the page, a green line appears throughout the page when the objects are centered. I hope this will help.

EDIT:

Oops, I wasn't fast enough!
