Staff Ash Posted June 19, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 19, 2014 I want to make something half the size it is now. It would be great to be able to just type in "50%" (or any % value) into the relevant field in the transform tab and it did the math for me... Staff MattP Posted June 19, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 19, 2014 Try typing "*=50%", or "*=0.5" in place of the number that used to be in the field. Alternatively, you can add "*50%" or "*0.5" to the end of the existing number. You can also do things like "w*0.5" to make the value be half the value shown in the width field (I've just tried that, and it seems to be broken - give us a tick and we'll fix it!). You can also put things like "1in+3px" and it will convert each unit into document coordinate space and do the maths for you. Hopefully we've got this one in the bag! :D
Staff Ash Posted June 19, 2014 Author Staff Share Posted June 19, 2014 That's great Matt - thanks. Understand it with a decimal multiplier, but any reason for the requirement to type in "*=" before a %? Either way, it's sorted! Staff MattP Posted June 19, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 19, 2014 You can now enter "w*0.5" and it should work correctly in beta 4 :)
Staff Ben Posted August 6, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 6, 2014 I will look at this some time soon. The expression parser is a feature that I had some future plans for. It already does a lot of what people would want, but we made a few choices in what expressions are allowed - mainly due to avoiding ambiguities. More pressing things first though.
