Is there a way to create a default layout for new pages

I want to set a default that automatically chooses my specifications for "create new" is it possible?

You could make a template with right specs and use that. If you are a mac user you can mark the file as Stationery Pad and it always opens a copy of original. That is not quite like template but close..
