spkellydev
When I download the update for Affinity Designer (Windows 10) it starts the installer, I click approve and then it stops and says "Setup Failed" How can I fix this so I can upgrade to the newest version of Affinity Designer? Thank you
Staff stokerg Posted August 31, 2018 Staff Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hi spkellydev, 1st if you can just try restarting the PC and then running our setup again and if still fails, could you follow the steps on this post and create a log file. Once you've got the log, just send them over in a private message to myself and i'll be happy to take a look

I'm using Designer version 1.6.0.89 I've recorded a video of my process It isn't creating the log files because what you're putting in the 'Run' dialogue is a link to the program that's already installed on your machine (1.6.0.89):C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Designer\Designer.exe What needs to be put in the 'Run' dialogue is a link to the installer file for the new version that you're trying to install:C:\Users\YourUserName\Downloads\affinity-designer-1.6.5.123.exe Copy and paste the below into the 'Run' dialogue and it should try to run the installer and create the log files: %UserProfile%\Downloads\affinity-designer-1.6.5.123.exe /log stokerg

- S -
It logged the following error:+Info: CustomAction returned actual error code 1612 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox) +Error: The older version of Affinity Designer cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group Therefore, carry out the below steps: 1) Run the tool in the below link from the Microsoft website https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed 2) After running the tool to fix any issues, it should allow you to then uninstall the previous version of Affinity Designer by going to Windows Settings > Apps, and uninstalling Affinity Designer 1.6.0.89. 3) Once the older version of Affinity Designer is completely uninstalled, run the installer file for the new version of Affinity Designer (affinity-designer-1.6.5.123.exe). It should now install. 4) Tell yourself off for deleting files in C:\Windows (I.E. Items in C:\Windows\Installer). If for some reason it fails to install again after doing the above steps (hopefully it won't), create a new log file for why the installation is failing again.
