MikeFromMesa
I just returned from a trip and downloaded the new beta full of expectations of new and wondrous things. For some reason I made a system backup before I did the download and installed the new beta (and a good thing too). I then installed the new beta (1.1.2.23663), run it and loaded a raw image. I began using the Inpainting tool to remove a couple of barbed wire strands from an image and, half way through, AP froze. I could do nothing except move the cursor (which was still in the shape of a circle from the Inpainting tool). Nothing worked and I was forced to force-close AP, but I was still left with the circle cursor and nothing I could do would allow me to actually do anything on my MBP. I ended up having to shut down the computer, restart it and try again (thank you, Apple, for the power button). Re-opened the same image in the new beta, successfully removed the barbed wire, loaded a tiff and AP crashed doing the load. Does this version seem unstable to anyone else? As for myself I will file this under bugs and feel I have to go back to the previous beta. Glad I saved it.
LilleG
I just used the inpainting tool in the new beta to remove 3 medium to large objects and to repair a cloned area. No problems at all. Works beautifully.
billtils
My experiences have been somewhere between those of Mike and Lille. When doing a fairly major inpainting clean-up, it will sometimes freeze after about 10 removals, but comes back to life in 1 or 2 minutes. Perhaps I did not wait long enough before I forced a shutdown.
Staff Justin Posted March 14, 2015 Staff Share Posted March 14, 2015 Hi all I have a few questions for anyone who has experienced inpainting freezing. Is this completely new to the current beta? When AP is frozen is it using a lot of CPU? If AP does finally come back to life has the inpainting worked? Cheers Justin

I have never seen this before in Affinity Photo Beta. And, for what it is worth, it has not happened again. However I have noticed that Inpainting does sometimes seem to take longer than with the previous beta. Not always, and it has not happened enough for me to have any "feel" for what might be causing it, but sometimes. > When AP is frozen is it using a lot of CPU? Unfortunately I did not check. However I was able to navigate my cursor without any delay. I could not actually do anything except move the cursor around, but there was no delay in doing that. > If AP does finally come back to life has the inpainting worked? I waited about 30-60 seconds before I powered my machine off using the power button (nothing else was working). It may be that I did not wait long enough and, if this happens again, I will try to find out this information.
billtils
Justin The answers to your questions are: This is the first release in which I have encountered it Did not check that - will look if/when it happens agains Sometimes - that may be related to the time I gave it before closing and restarting the edit. Hope that helps Bill Retina iMac (4K display, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM) OS X 10.11.6 Capture One 10.
