KBL
I can't seem to find a way to create an outline of an object in either Photo or Designer without drawing it manually with the pen tool. Is there any way to create an outline from the selection tool, or other simpler method than creating a drawing?
firstdefence
Are you talking about an Offset path? If yes, Affinity haven't added that feature yet, but a workaround in Affinity Designer is to add stroke align it to the outside then go to Layer > Expand Stroke 1. Add a Stroke to the Shape 2. Go to Layer > Expand Stroke 3.You should now have two shapes, the original shape and a new shape that looks like a Stroke but is actually a filled shape. 4. If you want to make the new shape a solid shape, select the new shapes layer and use Layer > Geometry > Divide and then Layer > Geometry > Add 5. To get an outline just flip the colour from fill to stroke Arra and NBS 1 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Alfred
I think the OP wants to convert a ‘marching ants’ selection into a path. We can currently only do the conversion the other way around, but ‘Convert Pixel selection to Vector shape’ is on the Affinity Designer Feature Roadmap. toltec
If you make a selection of what you want, press Control + J to place that on a new, duplicate layer. Use an Outline Layer Effect which will be around the shape you cut out. Is that what you mean? Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
