What am I doing wrong?

Recommended Posts

I have tried several times to upload images with a post and imbed them in the message itself. Every time I have done this, I thought successfully, and went to view the post I got a message telling me that I did not have permission to open the image and so I began to use dropbox links instead.

I assume I am making some basic mistake in how I upload the images since other people seem to have no problem. Can anyone tell me what mistake I am making? Or, alternately, tell me how to do this successfully?

Thanks.

Hi,

did you use More Reply Options at the bottom of the screen?

Then Attach Files? File should be on your computer...

or if that doesn't work, More Reply Options, then Image Properties, it's the polaroid icon below the font colour and smiley face. Use this for n image that's out on the web; just cops that image's URL and paste it into the box below the letters URL.

I should have been more complete in my post.

I am doing the following:

1) Use the main post stream. Fill in the subject and the post.

2) Place my cursor at the point in the message where I want the image attached,

3) Use the Attach Files button to bring up the upload information. Select a file on my computer and allow it to be uploaded,

4) Post the topic.

When I then go to read the most and try to open the image to view it larger I get a message telling me that I don't have permission to view the image. At that point my steps were to delete the image, upload the image to dropbox, get a link and insert it into the message. That is why my posts have links rather than direct images.

This is exactly the same problem, that I get from time to time. I don't know how to deal with it, this is one for the dev team. As this seems to be a forum gremlin that just won't go away.

You could ask:

  • MEB - moderator, (first point of contact)
  • MattP - staff
  • TonyB - Boss

Thanks of the names.

I thought that posting on the forum would draw the attention of some of the development staff but perhaps I need to send a PM instead.

This may sound silly, but what happens if you post an image and wait for a few minutes - does it start to work? :)

Interesting question. I will check as soon as I have a regular Internet connection (I am on a trip and responding using my iPad).
