My issue is : I open a photo in Affinity Photo.  The photo doesn't come in stationary. I have a Magic Mouse working with an iMac computer. With my mouse the file can easily be moved up and down and horizontal ( One end to the other). Is there a Setting that i need to check? Another things is that my Scrollbar is always visible. Is that the way it's suppose to behave? Again, it's how to stop  (or disable) the document (canvas) from moving around? I've been struggling with this for the last 3 days. I'm putting an attachment in to explain.

Thanks!

There is no way to "Lock" the Canvas, You could try adjusting the settings in OS X System preferences > Mouse

Maybe adjust the tracking speed down a notch or two and see how you go. There are third-party mouse controller app's for Mac, Steer Mouse comes to mind. You could try this to get a bit more control.

Ps. png files and jpeg's show as screen grabs without having links to the image like this.

I don't know whether you like the separated look but you can also have a more completed interface by going to Window > Separated Mode and clicking on it to turn off Separated Mode.

Thanks for the info. Also, concerning what file format  to use. I don't know whether you saw my graphics, but I have them in jpegs now. i also use Photoshop CS5, and for a fact my photos don't rotate around in my canvas and have  all this excess space all around it. That's what I'm talking about. I don't know it a different mouse will prevent that. But i will look into the mouse.

P.S. I Don't know if i'm trying to Lock the canvas, plus I'll try the Separated Mode.

I appreciate your response!

You are already in Separated Mode, which as the name suggests separates the workspace window(s), the Tools panel, the Studio panels, & toolbar into individually movable items on your screen.

You also seem to be confusing the workspace & the canvas in it. You can pan the canvas around in the workspace using the View Tool (looks like a hand) & zoom in & out using the Zoom Tool (looks like a magnifying glass) to show the canvas at different sizes within the workspace. These two features, zooming & panning, are fundamental features of the Affinity & essentially all other graphics apps. Together they allow you to examine & edit different parts of the canvas at different scales & cannot be, nor should they be, disabled.

Touching Bases. Like I mentioned before, I work primarily in PhotoShop. I understand now concerning the Canvas(Photo) and Workspace. It's just different. I'm just used to a stationary photo (in PhotoShop) without a lot of space around the pic called a Workspace. Just don't see the rhyme and reason. But I'll deal with it. I guess I can't use my Magic Mouse the way it is supposed to be used.  Must use it like a regular mouse and be careful with my Gestures or buy another style Mouse. Maybe in Future Updates, there will be more import settings and the Workspaces can be Customized to use a Magic Mouse.

Thanks so much.  If I misunderstood what you said please let me know!

I don't understand what you mean by that. What function of your Magic Mouse won't work in Affinity Photo, or would work any differently from in PhotoShop?

I am not sure we are on the same page (no pun intended) about the difference between a pic & the workspace it is in. A photo (or other graphics object) is not called the workspace in the documentation of any graphics app I am familiar with, PhotoShop included. The workspace is literally just that, the space your work is placed in. Your work does not fill that workspace any more than a real canvas or photograph would fill a real studio or museum.

I understand that the photo is not the workplace and that the workplace is the area around the photo.  From what I Googled earlier in this program the canvas is the photo itself.  Perhaps I said my words in a misunderstood way.  Sorry about that.  The Magic Mouse does not work with this program on my iMac.  I installed the program on my wife's Macbook Pro.  She has a KVM switch between a Macbook and a Windows based computer and shares an external monitor.  She also uses a Mac key board BUT a conventional mouse, not a Magic Mouse.  The program worked fine with the conventional mouse and I do not have the problem with the photo moving within the work space.  However, my wife who works on both platforms and also in Photoshop, tried the program and agrees that the gesture of putting the finger over the Magic Mouse moves the photo or canvas in the workplace when it is not desired.  She tested it also using the magic Mouse as if she is using a regular mouse and there are no problems.  I have to use the magic mouse with the same gestures as I would with a conventional mouse and not the sliding gesture that is the hallmark of the Magic Mouse.  The sliding gesture is what moves the photos when it is not desired.

Thanks for your help!
