EncapturedPerfection
Hi, trying to figure a few things out. ...apologies if these are already solved/covered/requested - I see that fill layer mask with black was already requested, and will come in the next beta? - How about using gradient with layer mask? I use this alot. If i am trying to brighten a face for example, but leave the body untouched - i'd usually use curve, then use a layer mask, and use a gradient on the layer mask so that the transition between dark and bright between the lower and upper body is less noticeable. - Is there a way to do Blend If ? - The maximum liquify brush tool size seems a little small. Maybe I am using too large a file size, but i couldnt get the whole area i needed to pinch with the brush. - File sizes are large. I had 12 layers, and it saved natively to roughly 900 MB file. The jpeg was 21MB. I usually have thrice the amount of layers... Feedback : PS: The engine seems a little slow ..on NEF file Nikon D800 , on macbook pro. Develop Persona adjustments seems extreme. A little nudge of shadow or brightness or clarity for example seems to toggle that setting off the charts. Any way to fine tune it a little more? Looking good guys, have high hopes for the engine :)
Alan9940
- Having an easier way to create a black layer mask would certainly get my vote, but... Since we can add an empty layer mask, and then drag it onto whatever layer I'm not sure how much priority this request will see. An issue I've had, though, is adding an adjustment layer that comes along with a reveal all mask, and then trying to invert the mask for hide all. Many times it just doesn't work for me. But, I keep in mind that this is beta software. - Blend If has been discussed in other threads and I'd be surprised if we don't see that functionality come along at some point. - Brush size limitation with other tools has been an issue for me, too. Many times, I like to zoom out on my image using a large, soft brush to paint in some change; this more overall zoom level enables me to see how the change is affecting the whole image. Can't tell ya how many times I've pounded on the right bracket key being puzzled why the brush wasn't getting any bigger! :) Then, I look up and see that I'm at 1024 pixels on the brush. When you're dealing with very large image files and you're zoomed out, that ain't big enough... - Yep, file sizes are ridiculous once you've got a few adjustments and layers in there! I first noticed this with Pixelmator; their Tech Support folks wrote back pontificating about included image previews, recovery history, etc. In other words, it's all Apple's fault with the latest versions of OS X! Hmm...I use another photo editor (not PS) on my Mac that doesn't have this exponential file growth anomaly! What do you think that means? ;) Best regards, AlanH
ronnyb
Blend If is accessed via the little gear icon in the Layers palette. Make sure to select the layer you want to modify first... 2021 16” Macbook Pro w/ M1 Max 10c cpu /24c gpu, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, macOS Sequoia 15.1 2018 11" iPad Pro w/ A12X cpu/gpu, 256 GB, iPadOS 18.
ronnyb
If you are saving the Undo History, and you have your Undo limit set high, you will certainly end up with a fat file size...
