  1. Thanks for the quick reply, Walt. Yeah, I don't know why software hardly ever works the way I want it to! Yep, I know I can just keep applying adjustments, then I could dismiss the final dialog at the end of my editing session. But sometimes I just want to remove the distraction of the UI (or most of it) and view the image by itself following an adjustment. I guess I need to lower my expectations a bit and enjoy the wonderful app that is AP on the iPad.
  2. Is there a simple way that I'm totally missing to dismiss an adjustment dialog panel? For example, I have a background pixel layer that's my starting image, then I add a curves adjustment layer and now want to view the modified image without the curves dialog box at the bottom right of my screen. The only way I've figured out how to dismiss it is to open the layers panel and click on the background layer. But if I then want to add an additional adjustment layer on top of the layer stack, I have to click back on to that curves layer. You can imagine how tedious this would get if you have more than a few layers involved. Thank you for any insight provided.
  3. Yep. I use Merge Visible quite a lot to create a stamped layer, and then move on with other editing. I try to keep my editing as non-destructive as possible until I'm done, but actions such as Live Filters need to run against an image layer. Not sure if that's totally correct, but it's my understanding up to this point. Once I know I'm done with an edit, I will flatten the document to minimize required storage space for the file. Lots still to learn...
  4. Yeah, OK, I think of those "menus" as dropdown lists. No matter...a HUGE thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I can't tell ya how many times I looked at that list under the Document icon and never saw Flatten. Just tried it and it works like a charm! Thank you, again, for the help.
  5. I agree, but it doesn't work. It might be because the assets added are groups with both active & non-active layers. I don't understand why that would cause the merge to stop, but who knows? I'm going to play around with it some more today. And, yes, it has happened to me with other projects.
  6. @carl123 That's for the desktop version...there are no menus in the iPad version.
  7. Does anybody know how to flatten all layers into one single layer in AP iPad? I've tried merging down, selecting all the layers, and then doing merge selected, merge visible, etc, but I cannot get my layer stack to one single merged layer. I have full pixel layers, adjustment layers, and layers from my assets (each asset layer containing multiple adjustment layers within) in my layer stack. Perhaps there's something about the makeup of my layer stack that AP iPad can't deal with? Thank you for any insight provided.
  8. I had this same problem recently when working with assets (clouds) from a recently purchased collection. The solution for me was to uncheck OpenCL on the Performance tab in Preferences. Give this a try, if you have OpenCL enabled.
  9. Yep, I've got it now (see my last post just above your reply.) Basically, all I wanted to do was to create my own sharpening macro, put it into my own category called "My Macros", then get my newly created macro into AP on my laptop and on my iPad. I didn't fully understand the difference between the Macro Studio and the Library Studio and what all this meant vis-a-vis exporting/importing a macro. The in app Help documentation is not exactly verbose with explaining all this stuff. But, with the help of members here and playing around I've got a much better idea of how it all works.
  10. Wow, thank you Walt! Something about the way you said it made me realize I was trying to drag the work thing. I just did the drag & drop with a single macro from one category to another. Just a little slow with these things...I blame aging! Thank you all for your patience and help.
  11. Just did some quick playing around and drag & drop doesn't work for me. Here is what I did: 1. Exported "Default" (the only category I have in the Library Studio) to the desktop. Interesting (to me, anyway) side note is that it doesn't matter what I name the resulting .afmacros file; it will import as "Default 2". 2. Therefore, I renamed "Default2" to "My Macros". 3. Created a new category called "My Macros 2" When I grab "My Macros" and try to drop it on "My Macros 2" all I get is a blue line either above or below to reorder the categories. OK, I just had some unused synapse fire...Does the drag & drop mean I can drag an afmacros file from the desktop (or wherever) and drop it on a category in the Library Studio? (Answer: Nope)
  12. Yes, it was a single macro in the Default category. I created a new category, but as you said the drag & drop of the single macro didn't work. This is all rather confusing to me. If I can only drag & drop one category to another, what's the purpose here? If I create a new category and drag Default onto it, will default now be a sub-category or would it contain only the single macros as shown in Default?
  13. Thanks for all your help. I now have my sharpening macro on the iPad. It was a bit strange though when I was air dropping from my Macbook Air to the iPad in that Photo was already open and the import failed. When I closed Photo and did the Airdrop, again, it all proceeded without a hitch. I did find it a little odd that it created a "Default 2" category vs over-writing the existing "Default", but I just removed "Default" and renamed "Default 2" back. smadell - Yeah, creating a new category in the Library Studio still has me a bit baffled. I had no problem creating my own category, but I couldn't drag any of my macros to the new category; probably some small detail about doing this that I can't see, again! It makes total sense to me to create, say, a "My Macros" then copy all my custom macros into it. Makes it easy to move between platforms and you won't over-write and/or create a "2" version like I did with "Default". Well...still learning. Thanks, again, for all the help.
  14. One more clarification needed... After building the macro and getting it into the Library Studio, I returned to the Macro Studio and exported it as a .afmacro file. I'm trying to get this new macro of mine into AP on my iPad, but the Macro Studio on the iPad doesn't recognize the file. I've read that .afmacro is associated with the Macro Studio and that .afmacros ia associated with the Library Studio (which kinda blows my mind), but I guess it makes a little sense when you think of it as the former being a single set of steps, while the latter is or can be an entire category of macros. That said, though, how does one transfer a single macro from the desktop to an iPad? As always, thanks for any help.
  15. THANK YOU, smadell. I had to record it like 3 or 4 times to get it right, but I think I have what I want now. Yay! 1) Just wow...I would have never figured this out without your expert help! That's one thing I love about AP...things ya wanna do are so straightforward and logical. 2) Ya know...those little (and I mean teenie-weenie) eyeball icons against the dark grey background are just way too small for these 70 year old eyes to see! I'm sure they were there when I made the first recording, but I didn't know specifically where to look. Got 'em now, though. Thanks, again, for all your help.
  16. When recording a macro, how do I put multiple layers into a group? I thought I'd do it as I normally would by shift/clicking the non-active layer to have both layers highlighted, then click the Group button, but the app wouldn't let me select multiple layers during recording. Also, one of my steps is a USM filter where I'd like interactive control during playback. According to Help, you click the Settings icon and enable the "eye?" When I click the gear on the USM step, I see the parameters set during the macro recording, but no "eye" or whatever to inform the macro that I want interactive control during this step. If it matters, I'm running the latest version on Windows 10.
  17. Thank you, stokerg. Disabling OpenCL seems to have fixed the issue for now. I'll keep playing around and report here with a crash report, if I have any further issues.
  18. Just purchased the Atmosphere by James Ritson asset pack and downloaded it into AP desktop. Running 1.10.5.1342 of AP desktop and working on developed raw files from both a Canon 5D Mark II and Sony NEX-6. When I drag in the first cloud asset and make a few changes to the underlying adjustment layers all is fine. I may or may not resize the cloud, too. But then, when I drag in subsequent clouds and start to make changes, the entire app crashes with "not responding." I have to force quit the app and start over. I'm running a fairly high-end Windows 10 desktop with 32GB RAM and a pretty powerful graphics card. I don't have anything else running, except Mozilla Thunderbird. Therefore, I can't image my computer itself is any contributing factor. Has anyone else experienced this odd behavior with this or any other asset pack? Thank you for any insight provided.
  19. @Venyer - Thank you so much for your suggestion...it fixed my issue! And, I didn't due a bunch of complicated edits, I didn't notice the app running particularly slow. I agree that it's looking like some sort of incompatibility with NVIDIA drivers. I haven't heard anything further on this issue from Serif. Perhaps, one day it will simply auto-magically fix itself. @Mark Ingram - Though I wasn't having any other issues with the current version of my graphics driver, there was an update available so I updated to the latest version, but no help with my AP crashing issue.
  20. I sent a crash report to Serif, yesterday, but haven't seen any updates. Like you, the program is useless to me right now. I hope a resolution is near...
  21. @Callum That seemed to fix the issue of being able to initially open one of my .CR2 files, but then when I clicked on the Crop tool in the Develop persona it crashed.
  22. Windows 10 (v1909)- 16GB - Intel i7 - 7700 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 And, yesterday, I updated my graphics card driver to the latest release. No help with AP.
  23. OK, more info... 1) Downloaded and installed 1.8.3 and same issue. 2) Removed prior version, updated my graphics driver to the latest version, shutdown my computer completely and re-booted to ensure Windows cache, etc, is cleared, then re-installed 1.8.4. No help...still crashes. I would guess that support from Serif is not available on the weekends? Will someone from Serif see this post and help me out? Thanks!
