  1. From the File menu, select New Stack.
  2. From the dialog, click Add to locate and select your images. Click Open to add the images to the stack list.
  3. Click OK.
  4. On the Layers panel, select the Mean or Mid-Range stack operator from the Stack Operator pop-up menu on the Live Stack Group layer.

Any update on this?  I'm experiencing the same behavior (but on Windows).  I'm not getting any errors or anything ... it's just, after adding my images, I click OK and I'm back at the blank AP workspace ... no hourglass or progress bar like it's doing anything.  As a matter of fact, it is completely responsive--I can go through and repeat the process, it just doesn't finish.
