How to export into Sketch and keep the same size?

Recommended Posts

I'm drawing an icon in Designer. The document is set to 24x24. The icon itself is 17x24. When I try to export as a .svg file I leave it at "Whole Document" but when I open it in Sketch it becomes very large at 203x286.
What am I doing wrong here?

PS: I'm new to Affinity Designer and Designing in general.

Hi Abdo23,

When exporting to SVG are you changing the DPI at all, try setting it to 96 DPI as I believe Sketch now defaults to this.

Thanks for replying.

I tried setting it to 96 but in Sketch the dimensions became 66x93. I tried lowering it to 72 and still, it's not 24x24 as intended.

In sketch you will have some folders and sub folders

I copied all the settings of this window into mine, it did nothing. The icon went into Sketch with the large dimensions of 203x286. Also, the image appears in Sketch as a group with jut the shape inside it.

In the meantime I have just tried SVG for Web, this has the DPI set to 72 so I changed it to use DPI: 96, I then clicked on Manage Presets and created a preset and called it: SVG for Web DPI 96 and saved it, Create preset... is greyed out in the screenshot because I haven't edited the created preset but when you do it it will show in black.

These are the settings I used for the SVG for Web DPI 96.
